I had to run a couple errands today and I stopped in a convenience store where a friend of mine is the asst. manager. While we were chatting, I got a Big Gulp and handed him a dollar. He said "Come on, man. Your money's no good here. You should know better".

My heart stopped for a second. My money was no good?? OMIGOD!! REDWAVE was right!! Capitalism collapsed while I was sleeping overnight!

But then I saw the deposit bag of money on his desk and realized he was just using a cliche. Good thing I saw that before I started my potato farm....

So the free flow of capital...

stopped with you...

:D

if you saw my 401k over the last nine months, you might have second thoughts

I've never really had the chance to take advantage of the wholesome goodness that is a 7-11. Mostly 'cause we don't have many around here. :(

We have 7-11s but, sadly, no Big Gulps.

Well, not that I've seen, anyhow. Mostly cos I usually head straight for the chocolate :)
It's an American thing, consuming mass quantities. It's not enough to get a soda, you have to get at least a quart (liter) or half-gallon (2 liter). These are some big fucking cups of soda. But hey, 7-11 is a Texas-based company, and we all know they do everything big down in the Lone Star State.

We have 7-11s and Big Gulps up here in Canadia too.

Ah well, you know what they say. The promise of Canada was to take the strength of thier influences: British form of government, French culture and American ingenuity. The result was British ingenutiy, French government and American culture.

For me it's a convenience thing. I don't have to buy a two-liter of soda or tea or lemonade and I get the ice inside it to keep it cold.

I get them a lot when I go into work since I can't readily leave my office to get a drink when I'm thirsty. I pour it into an insulated cup and I get nice cold liquid right there all day long. :)

That dwarfs my daily consumption of Diet Coke - currently a litre a day and rising.

and what about chocolate in kg/day ?

hi, foxeen. ho ho ho to you too.

i get the convenience thing, hell, they're called convenience stores for a reason. i was just remembering when my mum was here from ireland last year, amazed at the size of everything. i got a cup of coffee after dinner, and she thought the waiter was bringing me a soup bowl.

not much of a soda drinker myself. cheffie left a two-liter of coke here two months ago and it's still in the cupboard, unopened.

Wait wait wait

So you were robbing a 711 and tried to buy a big gulp?

That's what I figured the deposit thing was all about.

Hi Scrymmy :)

I like chocolate but sadly, it doesn't like me. So I indulge only occasionally, usually in the dead of night.

Hence, 7-11 stores :)

it's the dead of the night, and i received a parcel from Belgium.
Want some ?

None in Quebec (as usual, we don't have anything)...Am I missing something? Is it worth the drive to Ontario?

Nope. It's just the same as Mac's Milk, or Mike's Mart or any of the other chain 24 hour stores.
