Would you consider this? What safety measures are taken?

I was browsing Craigslist yesterday, and noticed there were a good number of ads seeking fetish/fantasy fulfillment, i.e. spanking, foot worship, golden showers, watching a guy jack off, light domination, etc. The advertisers generally claim to: not want ProDommes, prostitutes, or sexual contact; be "respectful" and "generous"; say they're willing to meet for coffee or something beforehand.

Anyway, it sounds like a fine arrangement to me on paper, but I got to wondering how many people were interested in supplying, and what measures someone who was (interested in) providing these services would likely take to protect themselves. I'd be concerned about a safe location, my physical safety, how the money would change hands, and being arrested, even though there was no sex involved.

Would you ever consider fulfilling fantasies, such as those described above, for cash or gifts? Why or why not?

If you have experience with, or know people who do this type of thing or Pros, what kinds of things do they do to guard against being harmed? And/or, what, if anything, would you do to protect yourself if you wanted to be a part-time Pro or fetish/fantasy fulfiller? (Part-time because I'd imagine many doing it full-time have a fixed location with security cameras and such.)

Does the fact that money or goods would be changing hands, or the style of meeting make you think this is any more or less dangerous than a regular, private date or sex with someone you don't know very well?

I'm just curious about the whole thing, peoples' perceptions about it, and figured this would be a good group to ask. :)

I'm having a hard time understanding why they say they don't want Pro Dommes, but are willing to pay someone to fulfill their fantasies. Doesn't that make the person a pro?

I have considered it, but, the truth is, I'm not confident enough yet in my abilities as a Top to feel comfortable charging money for my services. I need to gain a lot more experience before I can ever seriously consider something like that.

I don't think it's any less dangerous just because money or gifts are changing hands. I think if I were really going to do something like this, I'd find a couple of my big, intimidating-looking male friends to hang out in the corner of the room (not participating or anything, just standing there looking scary) to discourage anything improper or to step in if I needed assistance in putting the smack down on some jerk who got a little too friendly.

I'm with you there! Perhaps they think it won't cost as much with an amateur or something? IIRC, the guy who wanted a woman to watch him jack off seemed into the whole 'I'm an innocent girl who's always been curious about what guys do, but never had the chance to see it in person' thing, so that might play into the desire to have someone who doesn't make a living this way.

Would you consider specific things that don't necessarily require amazing Topping skills, like giving a golden shower or watching a guy jack off?

See, I don't have many big, burly friends, but I do have a husband who's excellent in emergencies and a great shot (not that he'd ever actually draw a weapon unless a life was in danger). With him along, I'd feel safe; by myself, not so much.

I would not touch it - this is why I've always done "sex work" through channels that are set up. When I was pro I had a house. I still do phone and I do it through an extant system, not routing the phone through my house and taking credit card #'s myself. The liabilities just suck ass. Safety really is in numbers.

Muchas gracias. :rose:

It's a shame cherry season has come to an end, but we're off to look at peaches in the orchard. I wonder what I could do with those and a camera...

I availed myself of the services, for money, of a women in her home while her husband was around. The first time I visited she pointed him out as he was standing in the kitchen when I entered the front door. He did not look directly at me and we never met face to face, but I always knew he was around. It was a little strange at first, but she quickly took my attention to other things. I did make several return visits.

As far as having someone around, you would have to look into the law covering that in your area. Best advice I can give from an informed position if you do decide to become a sex worker on some level is to know the law inside out and be prepared to work within it without exception and use it when you need to; know your rights and not be afraid to let the client know you know them; remain professional at all times (friendliness is OK, but have and know your boundaries well); and make sure there is documented proof of everything you do and who with and where you go to meet them and when and that someone knows where to lay their hands on this information quickly if the need arises. Working for yourself means you get to make your own rules in regard to time etc., and get to keep the profits from your labour....working for someone can make you answerable and controlled by their needs Time, what you do, with whom etc.), give you less profit as you have to share your earnings, and if you choose the wrong people can result in nasty consequences if you wish to end it.

.

Only thing I can think of is that they're trying to distinguish between someone who does it, like them, for the thrill rather than someone who does it as a cold and yawn/ho-hum business transaction.

That, and they prolly are offering less than a "good" pro would want

cheap thrills would be my guess.

I suspect that like most people they want the illusion their partner is into "it" and them, not a bored professional. They'd probably get more of what they want if they didn't have these negative ideas of what a professional is actually like though.

IMO, the minute you accept money, you are a professional but you may be an inexperienced and ignorant one for a good while.

Yes, I have thought about being a sex worker quite a lot, in fantasy. I am far too shy to do it in RL. Sometimes that bugs me too. I see nothing wrong with it as a profession.

Sweet Erika just wont do

You would have to change your screen name to something a little more intimidating. The Mistress Of Pain should do nicely.

Lots of interesting answers and sage advice - thanks to everyone who's thrown in their thoughts thus far! :)

I can't imagine being comfortable having clients come to my home, husband or not, but then I'm almost paranoid about safety and things like stalking. And the physical danger is probably why I'm not considering anything in person in more than the abstract. The legal aspects wouldn't bother me too much with no actual sexual activity, but without a safer location, I can't see taking the risk.

And, saw_man, no name change is necessary because I don't have the skills or experience to be a ProDomme. I could probably do phone/online work and some specific acts/fantasies like the ones I mentioned in my OP, but I'm guessing I'd need many more years in the lifestyle to be able to charge for my services. Plus, really, I'm very happy with my current path and future career goals, and I suspect I wouldn't be so passionate about being a pro once I got down to the nitty gritty. :)

I've thought about this alot..... And although I don't know all the much about how it actually works, what would actually happen, etc, I have seriously considered it in the past.

I would do it in a heartbeat if I could be certain of safety... set up a safe-call, maybe do some back-check on the person first, etc. If I was reasonably sure it would be a safe encounter, I would most definitely do it.

Truth of the matter is, when I was younger I had many, many fantasies about actually being a prostitute, and the only difference between what I fantasized about and this is that this is legal (well, depending on the area, etc).
