Would this style of story work here?

Hi y'all!

I'm sorta new here. I'm considering a twist on the CYOA format of stories, nothing new, I'm just not sure if it's the sort of thing that would fly here.

It would go something like this. Individual chapters would probably run a little shorter than normal At the end of each chapter would be an A and B option, which readers could vote on in the comments underneath. I'd leave voting open for a week or so, then right the next chapter, keeping the story going until interest died out.

What do you guys think?

It would be about a girl doing sexy dares for money, though that's not really the point of the question.

Most stories here don't generate a lot of comments, outside of polarizing content or authors with lots of followers (or both). So you might not get much feedback to direct the story between chapters. The site has been teasing that they're getting close to rolling out interactive stories, though, in a similar vein to the CYOA style, so it might fit well there when it's available.

It's unlikely to get much traction. Lit is not a very interactive site, comments are rare; readers want to read, get off, move on. Or get hooked into a long story.

Readers want the writers to do all the work, they not going to offer much input, other than, "Great story. More."

There are a couple of threads about interactive stories, but when you go look, there's not much going on.

You're better off writing a bunch of spicy little tales. If they're good, you'll get followers. Generally speaking, erotica readers are an unimaginative bunch - that's why they come looking for writers with the imagination they haven't got.

Second person POV stories (the narrative most used for choose your own adventure stories use) don't generally rate well on the site.

However, if you did want comments you could try writing one in either Incest/Taboo or Loving Wives, where the readers are definitely more vocal than most of the other categories. You would get feedback for sure, only I don't think it would be very positive.

The IT readers in general don't seem to like anything different, and will react strongly in the negative to new ideas or tropes in stories. As for Loving Wives, I don't know if anyone has ever posted a choose your own adventure story in this category, but if someone did they would probably hate it as much as they hate most other stories submitted in this category, and express their views accordingly.

Have you seen the Interactive forum? The quick version is that the site is supposedly going allow interactive stories (in a scripting language called Ink which is fairly easy to learn) sometime 'soon', although the soon keeps getting pushed back.

I think your idea would be a pain to implement with the flat story structure at the moment, and you might want to what to see what (if anything) happens with Ink.

If this were a site where the reader only wants entertainment, then maybe but let's face it, this is a porn site. Readers want their dopamine rush with the entertainment. They read and move on. Ratings and comments are rare.

As others have said, you probably won't get a lot of comments. I also think that no matter which option comes out ahead, A or B, you're likely to upset half your audience and the interest would die out really fast.

Just write what you feel like writing and let the chips fall where they may. If you get high votes and good comments, you're doing what readers want. If not, pay attention to the negative comments and change accordingly.

And likely misled you. There was a recent series in Ex&V called Would you Rather . It did exactly what you are discussing, vote for the next chapter. 85 Comments on the first episode. Sadly, it ended after 3.
