Would rodent removal be my landlord's job?

I have to say, I'm in big time denial and stress over the mouse situation in my garage. It's gotten to the point where I'm afraid to go out there, thus, I'm not getting to the last boxes I need to unpack.

Would I be a needy tenant to call my landlord about this? Is this the sort of thing I should be expected to take care of myself?

Call. Ask. Infestations are the owner's responsibility, unless they are Lukky infestations.

Call the landlord, 99% of them do, but then you have thta 1% slum lords (you know, Hanns family) that won't. Never hurts to ask, though.

Ruby,

Try one of those little mice repellant things that you plug in ... it gives off a high frequency sound that doesn't bother other pets.

I had a problem with little critters finding their way into the basement in the Winter ... plugged in a couple of those babies and never saw any sign of them again!

Yes, it's their responsibility. Although as was stated above, not all landlords live up to their responsibility...just ask Draaah about that one.

Or...if worst comes to worst I'll come out and take care of the little buggers for ya. Spring break next week.

I'm getting the creepy crawlies just reading this thread. I was out there last night and the little buggers are so brazen that they just walk about, skitter really, wherever they want.

It's damn creepy.

Thanks for the advice. I'm calling my guy tomorrow. He's an upstanding man. I just didn't want to bother him on something that should be my responsibility.

find you a little pussy and put them out in the garage, that will take care of the problem!!!

I think every one here would agree that snakes and pussies get along great.

When I moved into my first house it had a double car garage that I used for storage.
I noticed that the dogs food was coming up missing.

On evening I moved the old vaccum that was sitting in the garage.. it was so damn heavy I almost couldn't lift it. I opened it up and it was full of dog food and mice.

Fucking freaked me out.

My landlord took care of it... then I went and got a cat to make sure it didn't happen again.

You can break your lease due to inhabitabilty for pest infestation if he or she fails to correct the problem after proper notice in a reasonable period of time...check with a lawyer in your state...

Ok, Mice don't bug me much, but THAT would have freaked me right the hell out. Ugh! Ew! UG!

A few years back in our woodworking shop, we stumbled onto a very effective mouse eradicator. We began a project that involved a wood that goes by the trade name of Santos Mahogany. It's an extremely aromatic wood, and apparently the odor of the wood is a mouse repellant. The mice in our shop disappeared, and haven't returned. Six months later, I began to notice a mouse problem in our '59 Apache pick-up. I brought a half-dozen small pieces of the wood home and laid them around in the cab of the pick-up. Within a week, the little critters had stopped visiting. The whole episode with this wood has me believing that mice have sensitive noses. Maybe, rubyfruitS, you just need to splash a bit more fragrance around.

anyone else ever see the episode of the Crocidle hunter where Stever Irwin opens the door to a barn, and tens of thousands of mice maybe many more than that, come literally pouring out teh door, all over the place. I didn't sleep that night, or any night I see that episode... Have a nice night, sleep well.

If these little guys don’t freak you out …….. They are better at getting rid of mice than cats. I used to have two of them myself. Absolutely adored them, they were great with kids. I had to give them away because at the time (1990) they did not have a rabies shot they could take & I was going overseas. I would get one now … but they freak out my partner.

It's kinda cute, Ryaine, but it looks remarkably like a rodent itself.

I'll be honest, I've never really been a fan of that whole rodent family - mice, rats, gerbils, hamsters, rabbits....ack.

OOh Boy!

Would My Cats Have A Hay Day In There:D

Killing, Murdering, Ripping Their Little Bodies In Half! LOL

Landlords Responsibility, Soon Ta Be Not Yer Problem. If He Tries Ta Say It's Yours, Deal With It And Take It Outta Yer Rent.

RNAB, another reason for you to come for a visit, and bring your cats.

How's that little peanut doing?
