Worst score?

P.T. Barnum (I think it was him) is alleged to have said, "No one ever went broke underestimating the tastes of the public."

"Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public." Attributed to H.L. Mencken, but the actual quote was ""No one in this world, so far as I know, has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people."

There's surely some with no votes either. I was in that situation for a while until I got one vote. Animal House again: "Daniel Simpson Day: has no grade point average. All courses incomplete."

There surely are, but, as stories with no votes don't show any score, they can't be differentiated from stories that have voting turned off.

My lowest rated story as of now is a 3.72 for "My Sneaky Wife Jennfier".

It also happens to be the one that I'm SERIOUSLY struggling to find a way to end, that makes sense too.

Thank you, that does sound like Mencken. He probably could gain some further insights if he was around now to peruse Lit and other such sites.

Maybe I missed something, but it's not supposed to be a series, right? So what are you trying to end? Something within the plot of the story?

I had ideas for a Part 2, when I started the story.

I just can't seem to find a way, to get the ideas in cohesion for the finish I want.

That happens to all of us at times. On another site, I wrote ten chapters and then I had to tell the readers, "Sorry, guys, I don't know how to end this." One of them wasn't happy, so I wrote, "If I ever think of anything, I'll get back to it."

Finally, after a year-and-half, I think I've figured out what the last two chapters should be. It only happened because I revised some pieces and posted them to Lit recently.

So, have some patience and maybe the inspiration will strike. (Or maybe not!)

My lowest score is 3.75. I really can't complain about that, considering it's got two major strikes against it;

it's a 750 word story. AND it's in Loving Wives šŸ˜†.

I should count myself lucky on that score, really.
I've said something like this before. You haven't lived until you get a 2.5. That happened to me recently because I accidentally put a story into the wrong category. It took six days to fix it, which is very fast for Lit, but by then the readers had moved on.

I got a 2.00 on this, but I still think it's interesting if not exactly "sexy." It's sort of an extension of the 1995 movie I Shot Andy Warhol.

Right now, I've put it on the backburner.
I'm working on a few stories now.
Hopefully, it will come to me in the future.

Sometimes you have to take it off the back burner and put it back in the fridge. (That's not particular witty, but they can't all be gems.) But, yeah, writing other things is the way to go. It's impossible to consciously know where some of these ideas come from, but it seems the more one writes, the more new ideas appear.

I have two stories below 4 right now, both in LW. One, a comedic/sympathetic take on cuck stories and the characters in them, is currently at 3.85. The other, which ends with the suicide of the main character, is at 3.95. So, yeah.

I have a couple more going up soonish, each of which has a FMC that cheats on her husband because he's made their marriage so intolerable that they needed some kind of outlet; in each case, the husband eventually takes responsibility, not for the cheating, but for the way they basically failed at their other vows (honor, cherish, etc.). I don't expect them to do well.

Scores generally are in the 3 or 4 range. I’ve seen a couple of tales with 5.0 ratings - good for the author, but they have me scratching my head. I have seen one down in the high 2s. Has anybody ever seen a tale on this site with a 1.x rating?

Supplementary question - why would it still be up?
The only reason I’d rate something that low is if it was completely unreadable. Often times, if the story just doesn’t fit what I enjoy, I’ll just move to a different genre or author.

ā€œIf you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.ā€ 3 stars is about as low as I’d probably go.
