Worst score?

I'm all over the place. One of my lowest rated stories however received quite effusive praise from some prominent authors on this site so I know I did a decent job.

I just noticed that one of the 1-star stories has 6 favorites. “I pick favorites, darling, but I don’t rate stories like some kind of animal.”

My lowest is 4.05. But even if it were 1.0, I would not remove it. Some stories I admire have mediocre scores, and there are stories with great scores that I would be embarrassed to have written. The best stories are not for everyone.

We had a thread recently about the prolific SamuelX, and his apparent indifference to scores. Actually, not everything he's done has been panned, but I can't find a single one over 4.00 yet. He's got quite a few between 1.00 and 2.00. So I can admire him, but I wouldn't want to be him.

It would be amusing if he suddenly posted on AH and introduced himself or merely said anything at all. Maybe he did, years ago.

I've four-bombed a few, mostly in Loving Wives because the existing score was obviously based on factors other than writing quality. Then I realized that it was pointless because many stories in that category get 100 or even 200 votes in the first few days. At least writers there don't have to worry about being ignored.

I'd like to know what he said, although it seems impossible to remember. It sounds like a story idea, about a writer who is not only a prolific story teller but also is prolific on the forums. (That's all I've got, so I don't think I'm writing it myself any time soon.)

it's a 750 word story. AND it's in Loving Wives .

The most popular highest rated stories are the worst. Idiotic unrealistic nonsense from porn addicted morons. The lowest rated stories usually have the ring of truth about them - consequently people hate them for this quality.

It's not always the case, at least within Gay Male Category the highest rated stories are very good.
DrHenderson stories for example "Want you to want me" has rating 4.9 and is great, at least I think that. (It's a contest winner)
I read some of the contest winners stories rated 4.9 and above and 99% of them had good quality, nicely constructed plotline, good character depth and interesting endings.

That's true! To score high in Loving Wives it's almost impossible, only a few lucky ones achieved ratings above 4.8 there!

3.75 is not that bad, especially for Loving Wives. I've got a 3.42 and a 3.44 on my two forays into there. Some of the comments, however . . .

Let me amend that: there are worse comments than I got. Just today, some hapless person got these, for example. "This is your best attempt at a first story? A pathetic wimp cuck and a whore skank story?" and "Another new, unimaginative writer joining the LW fold." I checked, and indeed it is his (I think it's a male based on the username) first story. And it's also supposed to the first chapter of a series, no less.

I've seen quite a few first-timers fall into the LW pit, and I usually comment and warn them of what's up. Otherwise they might give up on Lit (or writing anything) right at the start.

P.S.: He only joined three days ago.

I dont pay much attention to scores - I have had feedback saying prefect excellent writing and story - 4 stars - im like if it was that good why only four - 'oh i never give five stars.'
then you get people who will give you 1 star because they dont like the genre - i'm like then why you reading the story? -
and that's without those trolls that will give you a low score just for the hell of it.
As mentioned above the LW category is a minefield - full of seriously deranged people - I started writing in there - and soon learned.

My lowest score was my story Whackadoodle the wanker - which, before I stopped allowing scoring on it was down around 3.2 It was never actually meant as a serious story though.

The first 93 pages look like stories with scores turned off (perhaps the score was a 1.0 when turned off also?). But type in page 94 in the “go to” page box, and you’ll get to stories starting at one star.

All this, only if you wanted to do something like that.

I probably chickened out and I'm just going to PM him. No point in walking blindly into a zombie horde. "Hey, they used to be human, they're not going to bite me." Well, yeah, I could just make the comment anonymous; I never thought of that because I've never done it before.
