got up at 7 am and went to work. worked 9.5 hours and came home for 2 hours. went back to work and remained there until 12:45 am. rung in the new year by mmself in the store. no one to kiss, no one to even talk to (let the other person working off early... she had a party to go to  )

on my way home get a call from my brother. go home, get the book he forgot, drive to his party. get insulted by one of his drunk friends. begin to drive home, get call from sister. go pick her up at her party. on the way get pulled over by cops and spend 15 miuntes explaining i am not drunk, just tired. arrive at sister's party to find i must drive 2 other girls home as well, this was not mentioned during phone call.

return home just after 2 am. curl up in bed, cold and alone, and have unpleasant dreams. awake 6 hours later to pick brother up from party. return home and unable to fall back asleep :(

< /pointless whining >
sorry. i'll be shutting up now.

It was probably my worst ever also.

*brushing self off and wiping a smile onto my face*

Time to start over!

Happy New Year, Sexielexe!

Oh, honey. That sounds like a terrible experience. Big hugs to you.

So you were the designated driver, several times, and not quite voluntarily? Thank you, anyway. :)

You don't know that you didn't make New Years much better for some family (maybe your own) who still has their loved one because a drunk didn't drive. You're a good sister.

New Year, same ol',,,

Or is it "New Year, New same ol'...?

Sorry to hear about your New Year's, seXie. Here's hoping for a MUCH better New Year's Day!

Cheers!:D

too bad Lexie. hopefully today will be better.

*kiss on the cheek* good luck

I'm sorry Lex. That does not sound like the night you would have chosen. :(

Happy New Year honey. The rest of the year will be great to make up for last night, I'm sure of it. :)

That isn't pointless whining...

I know how much it sucks to be working while everyone else is having a good time - it's what a night job is all about.

T'will be better next year, perhaps. Happy New Year, Lex.

i'm humbled by your responses. thank you everyone for the support :)

when i posted i was cold, tired, hungry and indulging in melodramatic self pity. now i've put my pajamas in the dryer and made myself some eggs on toast and i feel much better. last night sucked but compared to what could have been it wasn't bad at all.

thanks again for the care :) *smooches to everyone*

i feel bad about complaining that i was working today now ... sorry lexie you had a bad new years eve ... but at least 2002 can only get better :)

Late arrival...

See, I get here two minutes late and I don't get a kiss, ain't that some shit!?

Lonely New Year

seXieleXie

I can't remember when I wasn't alone on Christmas and New Year, so I know how it feels. My circumstances are also because of job circumstances - difficult to change, I'm self-employed - LOL

It would have been so cool to have someone to kiss.
Someone to hold
Someone to share a special time with
Someone .......

But at least, as has already been said, you did a hell of a lot of good by selflessly driving friends and family around to ensure their safety.

That makes you a good person in my book.

I wish you everything you wish yourself for 2002.

Mine wasn't the greatest either...sighhhhh

But we have to look at the bright side, its a brand new year...anything could happen! :)

Happy New Year!

Oh Lexie, you forgot the cardinal rule, didn't you.

Drunk people always pony up for gas.

You get a carload and you drive around for a few blocks. Get them to sing if you can, and say you need gas, but your short, can they help pay for it since you're taking them home? Sure! Put in about a buck, pretend you're filling her up, and pocket. Drive around a few blocks more. Gee, my car's a real gas guzzler. If I weren't driving you guys home... :D

Get rich quick schemes work with drunk people.

my sister is 13, neither she nor the other girls were drunk on anything but giddyness (there were boys at this party!).
my brother is a bum and never has any money. in fact he currently owes me money  family, can't live with 'em, can't kill 'em! :D

Thank you very much, Lexxie!!

I spent New Year's Eve here on the General Board, after work. I never got a call to drive anyone home. But on other nights:

Once, I did get a call summoning me to the emergency room after
my parents had been broadsided by a drunk that ran a stop sign.

Once, I was on my way home from work, just following the car ahead of me, when a drunk driving the opposite direction pulled between us, causing the loss of both cars and the use of a passengers arms permanently.

I've been stopped for tired driving a couple of times.
Once, the police had me answering their confusing questions and doing their silly tricks while standing on one foot, wearing leather-soled dress shoes, in an ice-covered parking lot at gunpoint.

Unpleasant as the traffic stop was, it was a pleasure in comparisson .

You are a hero to me for making those sacrifices that prevented the suffering of others.

:) :) :)

well, it was a dumb mistake. i stopped to get gas and i forgot to turn my headlights back on. i had gone less than half a block when i realized i needed to make a call so i pulled into a parking light, and then all of a sudden there were the cops!
they made me get out of the car and i stepped on the side of my foot so my ankle turned under me. i almost fell over! i felt like such a dope, and i'm sure i looked completely smashed.

We all make dumb mistakes when we're tired

and if you don't believe me, pay attention to any of my posts if I'm on here at midnight, your time.
