Yesterday I read a story I downloaded from ASSTR.org which described a woman reaching her erotic climax as having an "organism"! I have to wonder if this person had more than a 3rd grade education?

What has been the worst case of erotic writing you have seen?

Mine's the converse of that, but worthy of telling.

I took a statistics course over Christmas break from school and the first handout we received gave definitions and such.

I had to save it, for humor value:

ORGASMIC VARIABLES.

Yay to my professor, yay!

Personally I think people that write erotic stories should know how to spell masturbate when that is the category their story is in.

Did this professor also produce little "testies"?

Here's my vote for worst illiterotica: http://www.literotica.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=92052

my pet peeve is the incorrect spelling of "tongue". Anytime I read a story with tongue misspelled I immediately stop reading it.

I have seen too many to count. Miss use of words or wrong uses usually gets me though. i.e. Peace and Piece etc. It makes it hard to read a story if you have to keep translating as you go.

It might also be that English isn't their native language. And I think we all know that English is a weird language.

I don't like stories from authors who think that all they need to describe is just raw facts. "She had 36DD tits" and "I have a 9½ inch cock" just doesn't do it for me. And of course, every woman is a supermodel and every man has a Louisville Slugger dangling from their torsos in stories like that.

Misuse (not miss use) of like sounding words such as "their", "there" and "they're" is common - so common that I have found myself automatically translating such uses in my head while reading (although misuse of "than" and "then" still bugs me), and I have found myself sometimes typing the wrong word even though as a writer I know the proper use.

But substituting "organism" for "orgasm"?

I haven't seen it in stories yet, but I have seen it in emails; the use of internet chat shorthand is the worst; such as "i am hot 4 u". Such writing is just plain lazy, very hard to read and pretty much disliked by everybody.

Sometimes I wonder if our literacy is getting worse due to people reading poorly written prose on the 'net; I learned to write and spell properly by reading books, and while sometimes what I read wasn't as interesting as what I see in the 'net, at least there were very few spelling and grammer mistakes. On the net we don't have as many people proofreading and editing what we write.

Well, I personally don't think online prose is that bad, but there have been surveys and reserach done that proves online and especially SMS/textmessaging has had an impact on language.
I remember reading some article in a newspaper stating that teachers are having trouble with children nowadays writing abbreviations etc because they are used to it when writing SMS messages.

Personlly I used to love to read books, I have a library basically at home. :) I want to encourage my future children as much as possible to read books and newspapers. Not just play computer games, though I do think they have their place too. Still, books are a must in order to develop ones language. :)

Funny...I think my very first post at Lit was about this very topic...

I wish I could remember specific instances that have made me stop reading a story. I do recall one that had me giggling as the female involved was referred to as "a peace of tail."

I truly, strongly, most emphatically get annoyed by stories written with no respect for grammar and spelling. If English isn't the author's first language, that's usually fairly obvious and of course I would discount those instances. I don't care what or how you post, but if you submit a story for other people to read, make it readable. If you're just writing for yourself, then don't subject the rest of us to your ramblings.

I'd have to disagree that the online slaughter of grammar, spelling and punctuation is worsening our grasp of the language. Those who know how to do it know that it's incorrect. Those who don't seem to be writing (and for the humor impaired, that was a joke.). Presumably, they still teach grammar in school, and hopefully the teachers aren't using online prose as their teaching tool.

Oops, I ranted! Sorrrrryyyyy!

Verb Tense

I had been chatting with a man that claimed to be a college professor. Very passionate and descriptive. At the end of our "virtual date", his only words were...

"That was so good, I cummed a lot!"

That brings up a good question. I think I'll write another thread about it.
