So, no surprises whatsoever? At least one of the big teams will fold. If it's England, Italy or Portugal, I'm not sure.

Ukraine will play either the Swiss or Korea. Hmm. Will get back on that when I know the result in the last group. And France will win against Togo and take second place, only to have their le bottoms kicked by a Spain on a roll.

odds?

added to Lauren's chart (and knacking it up in the process)

But let's start with the easy ones. Sweden, Mexico and Ghana is fucked.

don't know what Lauren's are but those I added are the betting odds.

Which means Sweden beat Germany and Holland take out Portugal

The odds strikes me as...odd. If Brazil to win is 1/4, shouldn't Ghana to win be 4/1? Are draws counted?

Draws count in the betting and are almost entirely weighted by money bet rather than form.

So that means it's England V. Argentina in the final and no Madonna and the Hand Of God.

Well, Germany, Argentina, England and Portugal are all subject to a surprise. Brazil, in the bottom half is as well. I think the only certainty at this stage is France getting their le bottoms kicked by Spain. :D

The problem with betting odds is that they're from English betting houses, and everyone knows the English know fuck-all about football. lol :D

I actually think that if we're going to see a surprise in this round, it will be from one of those 3.

Well, I hope...

And Netherlands at 3? What have they done the last few years?
Lost to Portugal. But then again, so have England, Spain and Brazil, so the road to the final should be smooth enough.

FIFA has just announced that they are going to change the ranking system. I wonder why - the current system is proving to be so accurate! lol

Yes, the odds on England are a little optimistic.

Aside from the obvious two teams, I'm now beginning to think that France will be a serious contender -- once they've beaten Spain.
