Words Of Guidance

the book The Catcher in the Rye. i think its the only book i've ever read where i felt as if it was me that was the character and not the character written. it helped me realize that i could survive my problems and feelings and actually succeed

"If" is one of my favorite poems because my dad gave it to me before I went to college. Thank you for reminding me of it.

god, i can't believe how goody-goody this is going to sound but the golden rule is something i base my life on....if it's right it's right and if it's wrong it's wrong...simple...

one thing my father taught me that i actually remembered was that if you never lie you never have to remember who you lied to...

The Catcher in the Rye was a tad too whiney for me. Didn't he commit suicide in the end anyway? A waste of precious life.

One saying my mom passed down to me a few years ago when things were about as tough as they have ever come for me.. Deep in debt, no job, feeling lost and alone...

"This too shall pass"

She went on to explain that while things seemed dark, in the end the sun will shine and life will once again be beautiful.. Just keep believing and working at it.. Things will get better... In time they always do.

Things have gotten better.. Much better... I'll always remember that quote.

Actually, no. He didn't. Not in the book anyway; I didn't see the movie, though, so *that* might be what you're talking about.

What you have to understand is that Catcher in the Rye takes place in a mental ward in a hospital. Holden is literally retelling the events from 48 hours before... What you also have to realize is that the tale of Holden Caulfield is also the tale of Buddha.

Richard Bach's writing, I find, is truly inspirational. Most commonly known is Jonathan Livingston Seagull, though I'm a huge fan of One, myself.

I also like the books of Hugh Prather, which are sort of like poetry... They're little insights, like most people get, but very well worded. So far, I've worked my way through Notes to Myself, Notes on Love and Courage, and whatever the Notes book was he wrote in collaboration with his wife, about relationships.

I have never read "Still I Rise", or if I have, I had never read it like I just did now. Thank you.
