Honesty and common courtesy are the most important to me though, in both parts.

I seem to see a lot of extremes around here. There are the American Pie "Suck me, Beautiful," type of posters and then there are the "My Love, you are beautiful as the dawn, please suck me," type posters. I like to think I fall in the middle. All of the above are awesome in both real life and online.
In real life the occasional flower, whisper of a 'sweet-nothing' in your ear, a small something or anything that was picked up just because he was thinking of me, a surprise, a gentle look, a soft I love you, etc, etc.

Online definitely has its possibilities to, especially when someone has writing talents. Poems, stories, e-cards, a small note on your IM when you get up in the morning, a short email waiting in your mailbox or PM's, etc, are all wonderfully sweet ways that someone can be a bit romantic and lovey online, which is really helpful if there's a lot of distance between you and the person you love for a period of time.

Like said above though, to much can be overkill.. especially if its coming from someone you don't know very well, if its a stranger and it happens a lot, it's more of something that gets you wary of the person.
