I decided to post this on the GB because it's not really political. It's very funny, though.

This bitch is 19-years-old and is on her second pregnancy. Her boyfriend... er... Her "late" boyfriend wanted to make a viral video. He thought it would be a great idea to let her shoot a Desert Eagle at a book, which he held in front of his chest. The book was supposed to stop the bullet.

It didn't. Pedro's dead.

Fame is a funny thing, and some people will go to unbelievable lengths to attain it. For Monalisa Perez, a 19-year-old Minnesota woman, and her 22-year-old boyfriend, Pedro Ruiz III, the itch of YouTube stardom ended in tragedy. Hoping to create a viral video and spark attention for their video channel, the couple staged a stunt that ended in Perez accidentally killing Ruiz with a single gunshot to the chest.

The couple’s plan, according to reports, was to have Perez fire a shot at Ruiz while he held a book over his chest. According to Perez, it was an idea Ruiz had come up with after firing a shot at a different book and seeing that the bullet failed to make it all the way through. Perez teased the stunt on her Twitter account, noting that it was Ruiz’s idea and not her own, and their hope was that the video would go viral.

Ruiz reportedly set up a pair of video cameras, held the book in front of him, and told Perez to fire. At a distance of only about a foot, Perez shot at her boyfriend with a .50-caliber Desert Eagle pistol — and incredibly powerful handgun — and the bullet passed through the book and struck Ruiz in the chest. He died at the scene.

Perez has been charged with second degree manslaughter, and faces up to 10 years in jail if convicted. The couple already had one child, and Perez is seven months pregnant with their second.

An example of Darwin's theory

I think this theory says

People who kill themselves in spectacularly stupid ways, thereby enrich the gene pool of the rest of mankind.

That said, it is still sad, especially for their child

Too friggin ignorant to have tried that shot on the book by itself first.

I saw an article yesterday that said that the girlfriend told police that Pedro told her he had shot another book with the gun and the bullet did not penetrate all the way. I'm not sure I believe that, but even if its true, its still a damn dumb thing to do. Was this book the same type, same thickness and density, was the gun fired from the same distance and angle? Even if all those variables are the same there is no way in HELL I would even consider this!

Does she deserve to be charged? I don't know. But she has to live with the knowledge that her and her bf just NEEDLESSLY left their two children without a father. I am all for having fun and leading an exciting life. But when you have children, you need to be more responsible than this.

Absolutely she deserves to be charged. Doing something that monumentally stupid should not go unpunished. Yes, she lost her boyfriend, and the children lost their father, and will lose the mother when she (hopefully) goes to prison. Yes, she too will suffer emotionally, but not sending her to prison sends the wrong message. As for the children (the innocent victims); in my opinion she's demonstrated that she's to stupid to be around children!

Kids are left...the gene pool has not been enriched.

What wrong message will it send?

That we will let stupid people do stupid shit?

The wrong message would be the lack of tangible punishment meted out by the legal system. Losing her boyfriend and the pain SHE inflicted on the children is not tangible. You hurt people, that's your punishment...just don't do it again.

Stupid people will always do stupid things. When stupid behavior ends with a tragic result, the act can't go unpunished. Or else other stupid people may never learn.

What she should be charged with, or convicted of, in my opinion depends on what she knew. He was apparently quite familiar with guns. Was she? She claimed (at least according to one report I saw) that he told her he tested this before and the bullet didnt go through. If she had no reason to doubt that, she maybe didn't realize just how dangerous this was. But maybe she just made that up to try to deflect blame from her. But since she has been charged with manslaughter, I am guessing that the police or prosecutor don't believe her entirely. Her post before hand that they were going to do something very dangerous clearly doesn't help her.

My guess is they will proceed with charges, maybe reduce on a plea deal, and ask for leniency on sentencing. I certainly agree with Bobb that stupidity of this magnitude should be punished. But I think there are some mitigating factors here. She is clearly devastated. And she has to kids two raise on her own now. Maybe part of her sentence should be to ban her from social media for a while. They took this stupid risk just to get youtube hits. I heard one radio guy yesterday put it very well: Its a shame that kids today seek fame rather than achievement.

While I think this story is really very sad (mostly because of the children), at the end of the day I just can't believe how unbelievably f---ing stupid these two people were!!!

Why must the legal system punish everyone for everything?

Stupid people never will, you're throwing money down the drain.

I don't see any point in punishing accidents.

That doesn't make it a crime.

Given the circumstances, it was quite obviously a crime. It’s up to the courts and a jury to determine what level of crime was commited, and what level of punishment is appropriate.

What else would you call a couple of jackasses getting one of themselves killed trying to get famous for being a jackass?

At a minimum I would call it gross negligence. She pretty sealed her own fate with her tweet “Me and Pedro are probably going to shoot one of the most dangerous videos ever.” The second part of the tweet “HIS idea not MINE” in no way relieves her of culpability. In fact it goes to show that she knew, or in the eyes of the law - should have known, that what they were about to do could have devastating results. She needs to be held accountable beyond that result.

Whenever I'm sure I've read or experienced or viewed the most stupid thing ever, something else comes along to out-do the former.

It's murder, casually described as a stunt. Life is cheap

The NRA says "guns don't kill people, flimsy books do."

Oh it's just so OBVIOUS....but at best you can guess what crime? LOL

They say the same kinda shit about every summer blockbuster.

Doesn't mean the dumbass didn't know she was about to kill her bf.

She needs to be held accountable beyond that result.

Just because!!!

Anytime someone fucks up let's put someone in JAIL!! YEA!!!

You just want to lock everyone up for everything.....what are you prison guard union??
