Just a word of advice, from a man who has been present for numerous deliveries...

Although it is nice to record these moments on film, I would say instead record them in your mind - you should aim to be "fully present" to experience all of it - delegate the pictures to someone else. Enjoy the time wife your wife. Just my opinion

Excellent advice. Can you develop a good friend's trust and arrange to have that person be the official recorder of your magic moments? I sure hope so. To often, we get so tied up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life and forget to stop and admire the truly beautiful moments and events around us. These moments should be captured and cherished for a lifetime! All my best wishes for you all!

I do agree with this, and like he said, he doesn't want to be stuck behind the camera. But, my doctor is kind of weird, and unfortunately only one person is allowed in the room with me while I'm laboring...Redrock of course, and that's only if we take and complete a childbirth class. I thought about using a disposable camera, along with the digital, just to make sure we get a few pics. I thought it might be an interesting angle if I had one of the cameras, and took some pics right after the baby is born, like before they hand me the baby. That's if this delivery is as easy as the last one was.

I'm in favor of pics in the lobor room but I have seen all three of my children born and would like to ask that if posted to be labled because unfortunetly I almost passed out every time. I would love to see the childs' first pics I think that birth of anything is a wonderful thing yet the acctual moment is quite unsetteling.

Birth pics will not be posted to this thread. If any pics are given out, it will be through e-mail only. The reason being that to post a pic on lit all people in the pic must be at least 18. And if you want to see the birth pics I'll be starting an e-mail list in about a month or so, and I will be sure to let you know in the subject line they are birth pics.

It would be a privilege to be part of the birth (I was there for 2, and yes the 2nd one was a heck of lot easier) so when you gather the e-mail addresses - do post and I'm there.

This is a great idea, and probably one of the easiest ways for us to share our little one with those who are interested. In another month or so I'll start the list....I'd hate to start it now and lose it by the time I deliver.

Now on another subject....you all need to get on Redrock to take some more pics. I can't do it on my own!

I like this idea much more, and i think it is something that can be done. I would prefer to find someone else to take the pictures though. Maybe my sister or something so i can be there to help and support her. So we will check it out and see what can be done.

OK, is it silly of me to have thought of sending a congrats card right after the birth? When you make up that email list, I would like an address to send a card to you guys. And maybe a picture or two a few weeks after the birth. With mom and dad!!!
I have some of my kids like that. Makes a little tear blur my vision thinking back to those days. Boy, does time fly. I envy you both the joy and happiness you will again share together!!! In a good way!

LOL. Actually, we both just hit our 100th post, and I already knew whick pic I wanted to use for my av, but he couldn't find one he liked. So he was telling me I'd have to take some pics of him. Actually what he told me is that we'd have to do a bj pic...I guess that's what he wants to use for his av. We'll see.

Might we just ask the two of you to make a list of emails of close thread friends that would treasure your birth moments and then send some pictures by email to us when you are able? That way, the site is not involved and we can all rejoice together with you in your wonderful event! I know you will get lots of return emails from those of us you share with.

the painting that is. It was so much fun to do. We're going to let our son paint my belly one of these days. That should be messy and fun. The baby enjoyed it, either that or was annoyed by it. S/he wouldn't stop moving. Here's another pic of the painting. Enjoy!
