Have any of you been able to connect with the wireless Literotica through AvantGo? I keep trying, but it tells me that the publisher has exceeded its allowed number of subscriptions. Either the program isn't working....or it is working very well!

Thanks....

we can connect to lit via our wireless phones? (theoretically anyways?) That's so fucking cool

Well, I'm not sure exactly how it works. It seems that they are working on a thing where they put a certain number of stories out there for people to d/l.

The way I understand it....they go through a service called avantgo.com. AvantGo is a sort of "rebroadcaster", I think, for material of websites who utilize their service.

I have a Handspring Visor Platinum (pretty low on the PDA totem pole) and all I do is go to the avantgo.com site, sign up, select the webpages that I want (not a really big variety, but some interesting things) and then do a HotSync of my PDA; that transfers the webages, which are adapted for the smaller systems, to the PDA.

I'm sure there are those out amongst us who can explain it far better than I did. I sure hope so!

I've been using AvantGo for several months, and it can be a bit quirky--plus, they were just bought by another company, so there may be some transition issues. Where did you find the link to subscribe to Lit on AvantGo?

I have tried on my cell from work, but I don't know what kind of connection thingy to use. It said to refer to my manual, but it dissappeared a looong time ago. I just browse the normal Lit page when I can, and am Lit-starved.... or just need some jollies to get me through the day.

I see the problem

If you want to try the 'wireless Lit' service on a Palm or Windows CE PDA, it looks like they're developing a version for the AvantGo service. However, as BlueDaisy found, it appears that the Lit folks have some kind of trial relationship with AvantGo which limits the number of AvantGo users who can 'subscribe' to this channel. So the rest of us are SOL. AvantGo is not a purely 'wireless' service, in that it periodically downloads content from specially-formatted Web sites to your PDA when you are connected to the Internet, whether that connection is wired or wireless.

If you have a WAP-compatible wireless phone, you can use the WAP.literotica.com address on your phone's Web browser to access the wireless site directly. However, in the U.S. at least (and also I believe in Japan), WAP phones are still not very common. WAP is basically a special technology to streamline Web pages for viewing over wireless connections and on small phone screens (techies, if you find this an over-simplified explanation, kiss my ass!).

Anyhow, it's encouraging to see that Lit is jumping on the trend towards wireless porn, which is supposed to be the Next Big Thing now that most of the rest of the dot-coms are bankrupt.

PS to BD, Roxy & Image

Say, if the three of you ever get together to 'play' again, would you mind sending me an invite?;)

Ah, Roxy, sweet lady, I miss you, too. We need to have some more chats, do we not? RH, I suppose we could all get together and play. You game, Image? LOL!

To answer your question, RH...I found the link to it on the main Lit page. Not the discussion board main page. There is a short blurb talking about it in the "News" section. This is what it says:

"If you are a WAP or PALM user, please help us to test out our upcoming wireless versions of the site! You can learn more at Wireless.Literotica.com." and I believe the WAP or PALM is the link you click on.

About avantgo, I don't recall how I found out about it. Probably during my search for freeware and shareware for the Visor. You are right...Avantgo is pretty quirky. The pages you subscribe to don't always update daily.

Let me know if you get it working sounds like a good thing when I'm travelling.
