Winter Holiday Support Thread

Speaking of which, Cloudy certainly doesn't need my help, but I find her to be one of the most honorable people on Literotica. She would withdraw her story from the contest if she found out it won via "cheating." That really was most unfair to say those outright lies about a gifted writer and outstanding person.

Thank you, sack.

The more I think about it, the more his rants just sound like sour grapes. Piss on him. ;)

I'm all for free speech. You certainly have the right to post whatever/wherever you like, just as I have the right to call you on your bullshit. I simply asked why, if your opinion is so low of us, you choose to post here. I notice you didn't bother to answer.

Don't accuse me of anything, okay? I'm trying very hard to be nice...make it easy on both of us. Where, pray tell, have I cheated, asshole?

edited to add: I'm going to beat our new resident asshole to the punch....sent him/her the following PM (y'all, please excuse me, but this pisses me off no end):

How dare you accuse me of cheating? Just what have you based that on?

Show me....or better, show the whole damn forum how I've cheated.

I couldn't give a rats ass about what you think, mr. perfection, but I resent you implying that I cheat. If you'll notice, I haven't even posted in that thread more than a handful of times.

And, yes, I've won a couple of times but they were won fairly, and if you've bothered to even READ anything I've written, I have a fair amount of skill.

Shove your implications up your ass.

Cloudy, it seems that he feels all of us are cheaters because we vote on one another's stories. I don't know how that's cheating, unless you blatantly ask someone to vote you a five. Maybe some do that; I don't. In fact, I haven't asked a single person on this forum to read or vote on this story, nor have I ever considered a vote less than a five a troll vote (except the 1's cuz they are). I have, however, complained about the hypocrisy of leaving a really enthusiastic and positive pc and then giving me a low score.
Anyway, I agree with you Cloudy, that it's in bad taste to accuse of cheating.

And because I'm too lazy to quote two posts, I want to address something else he said, that romance has such a high portion of wins. This is true; if you look at the top list for romance the scores are very very high. People who read that cat are nice in their scores. That doesn't make it rigged. And I take offense in lumping all of us together in saying that we handpick our categories and manipulate voting.

Yep, we ALL cheat, apparently......except him, of course, if he won.

Sour grapes is all it is.

Scouries, your writing may be excellent, but your posts here accusing people of cheating aren't showing us anything but someone that belongs on the ignore list. Sorry.

Cloudy's "hush,hush Sweet Carly"

I just reread this for the umpteenth time, marveling at its economy. Cloudy doesn't waste words, and the result is one scary story, like someone doing the Chinese water torture technique. Yes, she has considerable skill, and pretty much ALL her stories have been rated highly, completely legitimately.

Sack, checking to be sure the closet doors are closed after that one! (scary music playing in background!)

I have so much fun writing the scary ones, and cackling while I type. ;)

Oh, dear....my holiday story just got smart-bombed. I wonder who it could be.

in fact, most of my stories got hit all within about five minutes.

Scouries, darling, you can't hurt them....give it up.

I suppose you could say I ask for votes. At the end of every story for the last two years, I have added a paragraph saying I appreciated knowing peopls's opinions, by voting or feedback. I don't ask for high votes but, obviously, I prefer getting them.

Hey - that avatar just above this post is an explicit photograph of sexual intercourse.

Oh, wait a minute - this is a porn/erotica web site. Silly me - of course it's sexual intercourse!

That Roxanne is fast on the uptake, or is that the down stroke? :)

Yeah. I finally realized what was meant by "your horniest AV".

Hey Box. That Av just makes me think of that old joke, about tab A going into slot B. Oh and by the way, thanks for the comment on my story. It's appreciated muchly.

I've never been so tempted to give a 1 vote in my whole life...

Now, Mr. Scow-ries, if you'll check your scores, as I am sure you do quite often, you'll notice I did NOT do so...but I will freely admit that I have not voted and will not vote on all the stories in the contest...and I have voted on Cloudy's...and a couple of Sack's & SJ's & Danielle's, and some others.

Did I read & vote on them partially because I know who they are? Frankly yes. Just as I am far more likely to buy a book by George R.R. Martin because I have read and enjoyed other books by him. I have worked a minuimum of 9 hours on nine of the last ten days. I have children to spend time with and a wife who wants my attention too. My time is not unlimited.

THAT IS NOT CHEATING! That is me excercising my right to read the things I feel will best reward me for my time investment. Those authors earned my respect and my time-capital based on the return on investment I received in earlier dealings with them. While past returns may not guarantee future results, a well-run company tends to remain a good investment. In this case, a writer whose work I have enjoyed before is more likely to give me a positive ROI on my new time-investment, in my opinion.

Sadly, your work seems to be well-regarded and may be a worthwhile investment. I say sadly because I do not feel it is necessary to invest in your offerings at this point. Just because you may be profitable does not mean I have to support you. See, I would not want to invest my time in you now, just like I wouldn't want to invest my money in a company that gave good returns by engaging in business practices I disliked or felt were immoral.

In other words, if you want to attack people I respect you can kiss my fucking ass and I will do the only thing I can: not give you the one thing we would seem to all want if we are posting our hard work out here for free; reads and feedback.

or to put it real simple; Fuck off asshole.

Oh I'm so glad the spirit of christmas is floating around in here again :)

Anyhow, who needs votes to qualify, EL's begging thread is going up today -who needs touting?

I have never loved you more, Bel. All that investment, practical business talk combined with some well placed vulgarity :catroar:

Those authors earned my respect and my time-capital based on the return on investment I received in earlier dealings with them.

I think Scouries would argue that this is an accurate statement... although not in the way that you mean. I think he would argue that the return on your investment was *also* the benefit of a group of authors who vote for your stories...

and I don't think he's entirely wrong, either, to some degree...

In spite of his bitterness (and what is it but the kid standing outside watching all the other kids play and feeling unwanted, kicking the dirt and saying, "I didn't want to play with you guys, anyway!") I feel like he has some valid concerns and issues... perhaps authors *shouldn't* be allowed to vote. Perhaps some of the "trolls" that one-bomb stories aren't simply malicious, but are other authors looking to get ahead. It's amazing what people will do when no one is looking, and in this case, votes are anonymous, no one is looking...

Not that there aren't real trolls... my poor little "Star of David" got hit by the Trifecta of Lit Commentators, Don, Stan and Sherlock (Larry Mo and Curly?) all lined up right in a row... I'd like to believe that Christmas Stalking was hit (although no comments left there) by the same kind of trolls, but I have my doubts <shrug>...

I think with a few modifications this "support thread" could be just that... but as of now, with voting being as it is, I really believe that there is an underlying motivation for being here that no one talks about or wants to acknowledge...

I disagree.

Selena, you haven't been around as long as some of us, and therefore maybe you haven't seen the true support that the AH offers. It's not cheating - it's as Bel says: we learn those authors that we enjoy reading, and we return to them when they have a new story out, whether it is in a contest or not.

Bel has read every single one of my stories, voted, commented, etc., and more are NOT contest entries than are.

See what you like, I can't help what you decide to see, but it truly IS about support for a community. No "underlying" motivation at all. We're here whether there's a contest in effect or not. That alone should tell you whether there's any nasty little motivation or not.

I don't think you realize the implications of what you've said. There are those here in the AH that have won contests, monthly awards, whatever, on occasion. Do you honestly believe that they've won those because of who they are instead of what they've written? Honestly?

If you do, please read Restoration, by ABSTRUSE, or Will, by Black Shanglan, or any of Colleen Thomas' stories that have won, and come back here, and please explain why these authors shouldn't have won what they did.

I'm not trying to be nasty, far from it, but I highly resent anyone, you or scouries, implying that any of us that have won at something didn't win by what we wrote. The talent in this forum is huge, and saying that wins are gathered by cheating, or "underlying motivations" sounds very small.

Just sayin.

btw - how would you explain the wins by folks that DON'T post in the AH? From what I'm reading it would seem that THEIR wins were fair, but ours weren't? Think about it for a sec.

We do it because it's fun.

As I described in an earlier post, during my first few times at bat the slings and arrows of outrageous trolls, or whoever, made be bitter. It still hurts, but much less, because I know now what to expect.

And I'm glad of that, because I don't want to lose sight of the real reason I do this, and I imagine it's the same for all of you: It's fun. It's a hobby. I get much satisfaction from the positive feedback of readers.

If I ever get to the point where contests or competition make it impossible to have fun I will have to ask myself, "Why do it? Turn off the votes, and enjoy the comments and notes from happy, aroused readers."

Wow, Bele, talk like that can really turn a girl on, all those business type words...phew *fanning*. And thanks for the votes and the vote of confidence...

I hope you all don't mind if the new kid on the block has an opinion. If you ask me, this is about writing skills, and there are a ton of fantastic authors here on Literotica. I'm not just talking about the people in the AH but also all the others who post. I've read stories that have brought tears to my eyes, some that make me laugh and a few that have pissed me off.

Isn't that what we are supposed to be doing, writing to make people feel? So, in the spirit of Christmas, shouldn't we just all play nice?

So, a few people like to stir the waters, they do so to get reactions. When they get the reaction, then they can sit back and enjoy it. Instead, why not do what this thread is supposed to be for, a place for support, including asking people to read your work, asking for opinions, and hell, asking for votes to make the 25 if you need it. As long as you don't ask for a five vote, how can that be cheating?

Happy holidays, all.

Danielle

This is Literotica. Ain't no such thing as playing nice.

Here here, Danielle. Big Smooch and Happy Holidays to you too.

PS. I love it that you wrote erotic stories for Christmas presents. You have a lucky boyfriend, and a lucky mom. R.A.

(Pssst - Although I'm pretty much an atheist, Merry Christmas too.)

He loved it too Roxanne, although I did cut down on the sex in Christmas Blessings for my mom.

She asked me once for the link to this site and I said..No way in hell, Mom.

And Happy Day off of work then. LOL.
