Winter Holiday Support Thread

I check all my tallies daily, and I love reading the feedback portal comments. Some of those trolls are really funny. It also gives me a heads up on what's good to read when I don't have a lot of time to figure it out myself. Anyone read DG Hear's newest Christmas story...it's a tear jerker.
Morning, DK.

I haven't read Hear's stories but I'll take a look. One of the fun things about these contests is coming across new or unfamiliar writers with really interesting submissions.

He writes a lot of loving wife stories, that are actually good, no watching wife and then scooping out the nasties....

I'll have to check him out.

There's an interesting story "A Linda Christmas" by THE OLD FART (love the handle) that's a Raymond Chandler-esque Romance. If you haven't read Ted's story, give it look see. Me, I was impressed.

Me too, on Ted's. You have a way of naming yours. I loved the Belle part...so sweet for a monster dog..lol.

I never think to look at the feedback portal, and becuase of Danielle's post above, remembered to do so. Holy shit, I'm number 2 in most commented.

I'm satisfied. I don't need to win now. I'm just an attention whore.

And Rump, you're there too. Danielle, you have so many stories I can't remember them all, so if you're there, I am not slighting you.

The name was original, I think, but the dog was taken, almost whole cloth, from real life.

Ye gods! That was fast!

I wasn't sure if I'd get a Holiday Contest entry done, what with NaNo and the like, but I managed. I submitted it yesterday afternoon at 2pm (UK time). I checked this morning at 10am (again, UK time). Not only posted, but with enough votes to qualify already registered! Yowza! I guess it helps when your story pops up as the first one on the 'New' page :) Good votes, too, although I think the troll people have visited.

I have a little free time, so I'll try to do some reading, but I don't think I'll be able to get to everyone.

Alex

Edited to add: PS - the formatting for the poem within the story previewed okay, but has slipped a bit on posting. sorry.

ALEX!

Good to see you, hoss. Glad your story is up. I've been needing a new target for my one-bombs. :)

It's okay if you can't get around to everyone, just so long as you read the epic epistles of DK, Ted, and me. Oh, yeah, read Doc's two entries even if you don't have the time. (Oops, better add Honey and SJ to that list or you'll be SORRY)

ps: Honey, en re that lock, PLEASE?

Alex, your story has been open for an hour in another Firefox tab. I am readling it slowly, savoring, since you & I seem to enjoy the same hot buttons. I was telling Sophia Jane earlier how I have stolen one of my most useful themes from you, with your permission of course.

And done a good job with it, too. I'm happy that people seem to enjoy my scribblings. That others can be inspired by them I think is scary! But warming. Enjoyed your story, one of the few I've managed to read so far.

Aurora...I love that quote from "Scrooged" He's always a laugh.

Yes! To me this quote was the best from the movie, which I thought was pretty damn scary apart from the comedy. I say damn scary because I was something like nine years old when it first came out.

Hey, Ted...That Av of yours, is that every ten year olds wet dream?

Not at all. You are the finest patti foie gras. As for DP, well, he's more an in-flight meal.

Now, who else can I insult? :)

By the way, where'd all you folks come from? DK, Ted and I had the joint to ourselves for ages. Then Alex shows up, I suggest he read our stories, and then folks just come flocking in. I don't know if it was his showing up or my suggesting he read the stories of the folks who were here at the time. Oh, well. I'll just slink away.

I don't remember being interested at that age, but I guess some were.

There is a classic photo I've seen of someone like Beyonce being really nice, and squatting down to be at eye level of a young boy she's signing an autograph for. While she is signing, he has his eyes down her blouse and the craziest look on his face. It's priceless since he's about 10 too.

*looking at picture*

All right, I think I know what's happening here... it's one of those cameras that pan over the crowd and show everything on that cubey thingy ( :p ) in the middle of the stadium, and when it got to her she lifted her shirt. I'd hate to be the janitor cleaning up all those guys' drool after the game...

This whole flashing thing wasn't common when I was younger. The only flash I ever got was because I walked into her line of fire at the last moment and sort of intercepted. Nice, but not as nice as when it is meant for you.
