Wind Companies Losing Billions

Ohhh look was one source and now three.

I enjoy how your “friend” wrong-guide’s “source” says bailing out big off shore wind when you post a source that says there are 7 off shore turbines total.

And that this a supply chain issue, the same issue most industries have post pandemic. (guessing you don’t read the full article, you are just there for the pictures)

Breakfast shift starting? How’s those hash browns?

What is even funnier is even the NY post stated supply chain issues and quality control from a suppliers as being the problem...

Yet he doesn't even mention the OIL subsidies...of 7 Trillion world wide...How much of that 7 Trillion came from the US government Ican't...care to hazard a guess???

This thread is a beautiful example of what American politics has become. You can’t have a rational conversation about this issue or any other.

The whole purpose of politics for common people is to imagine yourself part of a team. The team is right no matter what. It’s vitally important that the team wins because you’re the good guys!

Anyone not on the team can be hated, abused, and is suspected of all manner of evil and treachery. It’s not just that they’re wrong, they’re villains who deserve every bad thing.

Who exactly benefits from this arrangement? Certainly not you. You get the adrenaline rush from being nasty to someone, but that’s about it. Year after year the team fails to deliver on its promises and year after year you accept the excuses.

But year after year, the team leaders get richer and more powerful… relative to you. And even for that… you cheer.
When part of the "team" literally ignores scientific consensus as a base understanding of a problem, the discussion is moot.

And , oh by the way,…

The actual costs of fossil fuel usage in climate disaster damage and environmental damage, as opposed to cost savings from mitigating climate disaster damage and environmental damage by transitioning to green energy is conveniently ignored by the usual RWCJ suspects.

JFC

SAD!!!

When part of “understanding” ignores the fact that science is not consensus and whoever pays for the study will probably get the result he wants, you are not thinking or understanding. You are cheering for a team.
The above demonstrates that you don't understand the term "scientific consensus" as well. Neat.

There is not "understanding" in science the way your thinking. At least bad education isn't uniquely American. Scientific consensus in almost all cases really means peer reviewed. To use something simple I say that when water hits 100 degrees Celsius it will begin to boil. You then try this in your kitchen and get the coming to to the same or a very, very similar resulesult.

RoryN comes along and finds that water boils at 87 degrees. Were we wrong? Eventually we find out that his house is at a lower elevation than our homes. Why that makes a diference we don't know just yet but we've repeated the experiment.

1174 does it and the water doesn't boil until 120c. We still don't know what's up but we all agree after several more experiments that all our readings were correct something happens differently at different elevations.

Then LC shows up and says water boils when liberals cry. That's not looking for he results you want, its getting the same results over and over and accepting that even if you haven't figured out al the details you can recreate the results consistently.

Wind companies losing billions, prompting fears a federal bailout could be coming

Solyndra Redux? If the federal government’s history of throwing money at failing green companies is any indication, more taxpayer support to offshore developers is not implausible.

Mounting financial losses in the wind industry over the last few months are taking a toll on the Biden administration’s clean energy drive. Despite the billions in subsidies that came down the pipeline in 2022 before the Inflation Reduction gave away even more money, energy experts don’t expect that the need for more money will deter the nationwide momentum to build more wind and solar farms.

Writing in his “Energy Absurdity” Substack, David Blackmon, an energy analyst with over 40 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, said that the lobbying for more renewable energy dollars is likely near.“Everyone should prepare themselves to see an effort in Washington, DC to allocate billions more dollars to bail out Big Offshore Wind developers soon,” Blackmon wrote.

Since the Obama administration, the federal government has been pouring billions into projects to meet environmental goals, only to have the companies go bankrupt.

In 2009, the Obama administration co-signed $535 million in loans to solar panel manufacturing startup Solyndra. Two years later, the company went bankrupt, laying off 1,100 workers.

Shades of Obama's Solyndra do come to mind.
The oil industry made around $200 billion in profits last year.

https://www.cnbc.com/video/2023/03/...=Here's how, from politicians and others alike.

In the United States, by some estimates, taxpayers still pay about $20 billion dollars in subsidies every year to the fossil fuel industry.

So fuck off about subsidizing clean, renewable energy.

Oil companies lost Up to $76 Billion dollars in 2020.....so they're probably all bankrupt now......what a waste of taxpayer money

I'd say 2020 was an aberration, due to that whole, you know, pandemic thing. We need to stop giving welfare to uber-profitable oil and gas companies. Period.
Well, I'm assuming that ReighGad was leading the cry in 2020 as well.

They commentary is fake. So funny how a single fact is used by the propaganda machine to mean one thing but when you take all of the facts in total, it paints a different story.

You talk too much!

A quarter of UK’s electricity is now produced by wind power with plans to increase it. Not only is wind extremely efficient it makes sense from an energy security perspective.

Oh, and has strong public support too.

Translate to, just how wrong you and your ilk is… frustrating to be that wrong all the time isn’t it.

You can’t, but it’s funny watching you try.

Especially when it’s PJs. 🤣

Shell, BP boost profit, sink investment in renewable energy

While the big five oil companies registered record profits on the back of the energy crisis, relatively little will be reinvested in renewables as climate goals are slashed.

Oil and gas giant Shell last week announced a historic near $40 billion (€37.18 billion) profit in 2022. Other multinational energy firms have simultaneously registered record windfalls, among them BP and fossil fuel powerhouse, ExxonMobil.
The super profits are thanks in large part to spiraling energy prices driven by Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Amid skyrocketing consumer energy costs, the likes of US president Joe Biden have labelled the wins a "windfall of war" and demanded higher taxes.
But the oil and gas bonanza has sparked a parallel concern that climate mitigation targets are being sacrificed for profits.

Economies across the world are gradually transitioning to cleaner energy sources. There has been a steady increase in pressure on energy companies to act on climate change on multiple fronts. Most analysts believe that although renewable energy will meet future energy needs, oil and natural gas demand will not be completely wiped out.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration, in its Annual Energy Outlook 2023, revealed that through 2050, renewables will increasingly match power demand. Thus, there are abundant opportunities for energy companies with a footprint in oil and gas resources or transporting commodities and the renewable energy space. Three such companies are Shell plc SHEL, Eni SpA E and Enbridge Inc ENB, which are well-poised to gain in the long run.

Growing renewable business at a rapid pace is among the core strategies of Shell. In the renewable energy front, Shell has roughly 50 gigawatts (GW) of renewable generation capacity, considering projects either in operation, under construction or in the pipeline. Thus, for renewables and energy solutions, SHEL is investing actively in solar energy, wind energy, electric vehicle charging and others.

To implement the production of renewable energy, Plenitude, a benefit company, was established and is being controlled by Eni. To counter the decarbonization challenge, renewable energy generation is among the key strategies of Eni. This is reflected in its ambitious goal for more than 15 GW of installed renewable energy generating capacity by 2030.

Enbridge has been investing in wind farms, solar energy, geothermal projects and power transmission developments, reflecting the company's strong focus on renewables. Considering all the renewable energy projects that are either operational or under construction, Enbridge boasts a net of 2,173 megawatts of zero-emission energy generating capacity.

Well look at you, you CAN find sources that aren’t blatant right wing propaganda talking point pushers.

And what’s that? Big Oil is going to keep their profits? Say it ain’t so!

You did read the article right?

The trend is slow but green energy investing by big oil is on the increase.

And this helps the wrong-guide prove what exactly??

The losing billions is from big oil not reinvesting as much?
Solar and wind are not the only answer, Geothermal, nuclear and cold fusion is where most investments should lean towards. Do we really want our landscapes littered with wind turbines farms and solar farms as far as the eye can see. I don’t. It’s ugly.
