I do not pretend to be more then marginally literate. Anyone reading my posts know how loose my association with punctuation and grammar has always been.(I crack myself up sometimes). THis is a problem I have just purchased a new imac os9 and cannot figure out why it is so slow on this board? It takes forever to load and all those frigging little troll things stay squares forever and then translate into figures. I cannot even go into the chat room it takes to long to load and I do have a job. So help me with this rather perplexing problem please.

More information please

Is this a completely new iMAc, or just a new operating system for an older one?

Is this new configuration using the same phone line as you have used in the past?

Do you have any way of monitoring your modem connection? (something that tells you what the connection speed is and how many bytes have been transfered in each direction.)

I ask, because from your intial post, it could be the machine running slow because of some software problem, or it could be a bad modem connection to your server.

who is your isp, if you have the ability to get cable internet access, i stongly reccomend it. my download speeds for music off the net is about 3 to 4 minutes, when most people i know with phone connects tale about 30 to 45 mins. Also check your modem speed, it may be set at a lower speed.
to check your your modem speed try to down load a song from scoursx.com, they countdown how long each song has left to download.

Ginger baby, call your ISP first, talk to their techies and bitch, see if they have the remotest clue. Unless you have one of those big ones that gives you a 1-800 number and they are perpetually busy. Next, call that nasty takes forever help line and bitch. Obviously its not line or cable speed if its simply a new o/s, because your previous o/s had no problems with it. If it is an entirely new computer (I run a PC, not a Mac, am clueless there...) then refer to what Weird Harold the darling said.

I have a Mac. If this is a new iMac, it's a connection problem. How much RAM do you have, as that could cause a slow down as well. Processor speed?
