I once moderated a site that felt free to ban "inane" speech.

At the time I didn't run up against enough inane to really think it was anything but a somewhat pretentious rule.

However, my experience here has led me to believe that "inane" is much like "pornography" - you know it when you see it.

There's free speech, and then there's incessant, repetitive, inane and unsubstantiated speech that clutters the hell up out of the board until the lady in charge gets sick of it and she's the lady in charge.

People had the opportunity to diddle about with idealism and not listen to her responses or warnings, and now you're wondering why?

Because.

If you don't understand the other explanations, that's as good of one as you are going to comprehend or get.

She is in charge.
