Russians tried to pull the peacekeepers out (presumably for reinforcements into Ukraine) and Azerbaijan swiftly moved in, taking two villages and a strategic high ground. Several Armenians died in action. Russia had to deploy the peacekeepers to stop Azeri advance, "physically blocking" it.

Now, there's reporting Russians are letting Armenian army to move in the designated neutral zone, in their presence. Both sides decry Russia in breaking the three-way agreement, Azerbaijan in particularly derisive language.

Before the disaster in Ukraine Azerbaijan wouldn't dare to provoke Russia, now it may feel it can defeat the Russian contingent present in the region (it's just ~5,000) and as we see, Russia apparently have no reserves.

Further, Azerbaijan has a tight ally in Turkey, who is already balancing, trying to not fully alienate Russia while providing arms to Ukraine and blocking the strait to Russian fleet.

So, if Azerbaijan succeeded in triggering conflict with Russia, could Turkey keep its relative neutrality?

Also, will we see yet another Armenian genocide?
