Will (Another) New Party Work?

While I would WANT to support such a party, I think..the short answer is, no. The reason being, many would rather "Vote for the lesser of two evils" simply to keep the GREATER of two evils from seizing the election in a three-way vote.

I could see a scenario where one party offers a seditious, totalitarian would-be dictator as their candidate- regardless of whether Democrat or Republican- we're talking about someone would be considered unelectible in a normal civilized democratic society.

In the general election, he polls only 40 percent of the vote- and wins, because the opposition was divided between two far more likeable/competent candidates who each polled only 30 percent. This is where we are at right now. I think most people would rather support a moderate, center (or even center/right) candidate, but would rather support a moderate in a two way race, rather than a three way race where the liklihood of a devastating extremist winning the election would be too much to risk voting for a third-party.

Ideally, at least initially, this 'new party' might want to be advisory. Almost like a PAC. Maybe run a few canditates for minor offices, but for the major ones, pick and choose a few candidates from each of the other two to endorse. Don't draw votes away, but try to guide votes.

If those clowns wanted to make an impact, they would have teamed up with an established third party, like the Libertarians.

I detect a whiff of narcissism...
