"Well, I know they are and I don't really quite understand why, because as I mentioned before, the obligations that they would undertake, say borrowing from a bank or a credit union, are in effect federally guaranteed, so the 30 days of pay that some people will be out is no real reason why they shouldn't be able to get a loan against it."

Thus spoke our so-called Commerce Secretary, Wilbur Ross, in response to a question about reports federal workers are going to homeless shelters or seeking food assistance. In essence, what this person who supposedly has an understanding of business said, is people should go into debt because the con artist won't allow them to be paid.

It's almost as if the phrase, "Let them eat cake", is unknown to him. After all, one can't expect someone who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth to understand the trials and tribulations of the average person.

Considering he was head of Rothchild's (yes, those Rothchild) bankruptcy advisory practice which pulled the con artist out of the depths of one of his six bankruptcies, it seems strange Ross doesn't quite grasp how loans work. Surely he's not saying he never charged interest on the money he lent the con artist?

Drop him off in Detroit or Chicago, with no cellphone, no overcoat, $2 in his pocket and a Taco. A week, or two on the street will change his attitude. :)

.@SpeakerPelosi responds to Wilbur Ross: "Is this the 'let them eat cake' kind of attitude, or 'call your father for money?'"
