Why has Clutching_calliope deleted her poems in this forum and who drove her away? When other more vocal poets announce their imminent departure it's somehow less painful when they do go than when one of Callies caliber slips away silently. I'm really disappointed with he direction this forum is taking. Too many fine poets lose heart and leave, too many others post too infrequently. I keep checking in to see if things have improved and I'll continue to - I guess.

I have noticed that Cali deletes her work on a "regular" basis. If thatmakes a diff, I love reading her, so it is disheartening to go back in the passion thread and find her babies all gone

Calli is systematically deleting her posts—just look at the "Find all posts" option. Gone, gone, gone, gone gone.

Who drove her away? Maybe no one. Maybe she left for other reasons.
I hope she left because someone is publishing her work and she needed to remove it from online.

One should never agree to publishing their work under such conditions. And one should not use "Literotica" like this, it's not nice. (I am not saying that this is what has happened).

I agree. I think the same every time I look in the "all of a sudden passion suddenly" thread, for example, and see one third of the poems edited out, or threads like the very recent The Erotic Limerick that is now without its original first post. I find it all very disrespectful, no matter the reasons.

Yes, it's within the publisher's rights to ask that you not have your work avilable for free online while they're publishing a book with your work in it.

I wouldn't call that disrespectful. I've edited out some of my poems, and it's usually because I'm freaked out by how awful the poem reads the day after I posted it. lol
We do use lit for its free forum and as a place to publish whatever we write. And lit uses us as a supplier of poems/stories. It seems to be working.

Maybe we should wait and see what she has to say, she is still very active here and still continues to write new stuff every day in a number of threads

It would be preferable if a poet would enter that thread with one thought in mind: I am going to spontaneously write a poem and leave it here to be publicly viewed forever, no matter how much it may or may not suck.
I believe that was the original intent of the thread. But fortunately, we are free to remove our poems and leave "....." in place of the poem, which is rather unattractive and frustrating to the reader, but I do try to move those dots to the chit chat, keep clean whatever thread.
Personally, I don't need to be freaked out the day after anything.

The ironic thing about this whole hypocritical business of removing poems from Literotica is that it really makes no difference for the commercial or otherwise success of the published poem. The real reason seems to be something else. Some Lit authors don't want to have their Lit nick (user id) connected to their real name or to the published nick.

My stuff there is always riddled with poor grammer, unnecessary repeats, etc it is awful, simply awful...

taking poetry out for editing from that thread is okay, I often do that, but leave the rough draft up everyone's poem is their own to do with what they wish but to me, it is like getting all dressed up at a nude beach I personally prefer to see the poems without their make up, but that is just me

There are millions of people (okay 100) who want to read poetry. So to have them published elsewhere is just to present them to a different group of people.

I remove my poems from lit when requested to do so out of respect for the group of people who are kind enough to publish them elsewhere. I feel like lit is not an end to poetry, not a graveyard, it is more of a breeding ground, where I get good feedback. I do not know if this makes me a hypocrite.

And that's an ugly kind of prostitution (in a contrast to the physical, classical prostitution . Such lack of principles takes away something important from poetry.
