Why won't the right debate?

Congress doesn't shape strategy, the Pentagon does. If you want to blame anyone for how Iraq is going, point your finger at Rummie. W has not been listening to his generals. They ask for one thing, Rumsfeld tells them what they can have instead, and W rubber stamps it. I'm sure his dad advised him otherwise.

Just one...
Congress has given Bush a blank check to do what ever he wants. They have given him every cent he wanted to the tune of 2 billion a week for Iraq and a budget deficit of 8 trillion dollars. They have signed away rights inherent to the Congressional Branch to Bush. They have also helped Bush in getting rid of habeas corpus and allowed him to torture people.

I don't put people on ignore because of their politics. The only ones I do have are those that spew racist shit. AJ, Ishmael, Garbage man or can or what ever, gringao, ... I think that's all. I choose to only read that crap once from someone.
Gringao isn't a racist. Wingnut, yes, but at least he's rational.

A blank check doesn't determine military strategy either. I'm pretty sure habeas is still going strong...as far as your common criminal is concerned.

The President or his agents can declare any US citizen an enemy combatant, take them into custudy, allow them no contact with the outside, and hold them indefinitely with no court review. That includes you; me; any US citizen; any person anywhere in the world.

Amendment IV of the US Constitution reads as follows.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

The Republican Congress passed the bill and the President signed it into law. The Executive Branch now has power that is unchecked by either the Congressional or Judicial Branches. Bush and Congress have gutted the 4th Amendment.

So if they are terrorists, charge them, put them into a court with the evidence and if guilty then lock them up or you still have the death penalty.

No

revealing all the evidence can and will give OTHERS the knowledge on how to prevent THEIR capture

compromise methods and operations

NO

Oh come on... that's straw clutching if ever there was straw to clutch.

You've been arresting and jailing spies, and other "intelligence led" targets for ever. All through your judicial system. If it works for them why not terrorists. Are you saying your judges are all terrorists sleepers feeding information back?

Admit it. The reason you are holding these people is because you "think" they are terrorists. They "may be" terrorists but you don't have any evidence that they are. So you need new laws (or somewhere beyond the law) to hold them.

And, as has been posted above, once you hold people without without charge because you "think they may be against us". What protection is there for anybody?

what happens in open court will be used by terrorists against

us

when "spies" are tried, the ripple effect is DEAD SYMPATHIZERS in other countries

you dont care about our welfare, I do!

Poppycock!

that's what I say to your argument.

If you have concrete evidence that a person is a terrorist then use it to put them away. Put the evidence in a court and let justice be done. There are provisions in law for using evidence obtained from intelligence that protect the sources. Why don't the government trust it's own justice sytem?

and why are YOU so intent on goving the TERRORISTS the SAME rights as US citizens?

are POWS supposed to be TRIED in US courts?

BS!

I care more for me then I do for terrorists!

"I Pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all".

Are we talking about POW's or terrorists now?

well what's to say that someday a liberal government won't come for you in the night and take away your freedom, with no thought of evidence or process because to them you're a righ-wing "terror"suspect?

I assume the TERRORISTS Pledge to our flag?

JUSTICE?

Justice, yes. Suicide, NEVER! SURRENDER? NEVER!

busybody said:

No.. but if that's what you, as a country, stand by, you have to either follow it through and mean it, or take it out.
