Why is there NO wholesome entertainment?

You can't tell me there is ZERO market for good quality G or soft-PG rated entertainment for an all ages or adult demographic. The rare wholesome entertainment that does exist nowadays is only for little kids, and even most kids shows aren't that wholesome anymore. Then the ads that come on are not always wholesome.

The entertainment conglomerates would rather lose a significant potential market rather than offer a product that goes against their ideology of sleeziness. I guess they do stand on some kind of principle after all.

I miss it on television. Where are the Little House on the Prairie and Walton type shows?

I don't often respond to you because I'm not a moron like the idiots who fall for your act but I felt the need to point out that almost every year Pixar makes high quality wholesome entertainment for the whole family and Disney (other than under the Pixar name) and Dreamworks usually have some good fare. This is beside foreign offerings and the occasional surprise by one of the other studios or an independent.

Just sayin'.

It's there. ABC family, Hallmark, and several other channels have good family shows. There have been/are a lot of PG and PG13 movies out recently.

Nope - Pixar doesn't count. Woody from Toy Story was part of the anti-gay-bashing It'll Get Better campaign. Pixar is nothing but a liberal left-fringe brainwashing machine.

( )

Speaking of that nexflix just added a ton of there stuff I noticed some I never seen before

In the U.S. it was ruled (?) that news counted as an educational program. Then pretty much all of the Saturday morning cartoons got replaced with stuffy news rooms telling you about the latest mass murder.

Hasn't been anything decent on TV for kids (that adults could watch too) for a decade barring a few shows.

The lack of wholesome TV (on which I have no opinion, since I watch very little TV in the first place) could serve a useful purpose. Maybe if our TV and movies get to be utterly unbearable, people will spend more time reading or playing. Now, if only we could find a way to disconnect people from their iPhones and Facebook for five minutes...

Because they just recently got Disney. Almost immediately they had a large number of the movies streaming.

Including Dragonslayer. Which is just plain win since that movie's DVD has been out of print for a decade.

But let's not pretend that Saturday morning cartoons were "wholesome". In the 80s, the majority were little more than half-hour commercials for Rubik's Cubes and Go Bots.

Wait - I'm mistaken: to the right fringe, that's wholesome. Yay capitalism!

There are lots of good G rated movies, like those National Treasure movies and any of those Brendan Fraser Disney pics like the Mummy, etc.

And there are 100's of tv channels...always with some crap that has no tits, fights or car chases...somewhere?

Cool so do you know if there going to open their whole library to netflix bring out their old stuff.

I'm not pretending any were ever "wholesome." That's his stupid argument, he can go watch weird ass Bible cartoons on some weird as fuck high number channel if he wants that.

In the '80s, yes, they were little more than ads, but they slowly evolved to be both fun and informative. I don't think you're ever going to get a kids cartoon approved today though without some form of merchandise to sell. It's too much cost incurred to not look for an extra revenue stream.

Gargoyles from the '90s, while not educational at all, treated kids like something more than tiny morons.

Actually, what the fuck happened to animation quality? Now everything is half-assed in Flash.

Remember school house rock

Yes, I have to admit it's nice to see that available.
I'm wondering if they'll start streaming the Star Wars movies soon. That would be nice.

I don't know for sure but it's my understanding that Netflix has access to the all or most of the Disney library. No doubt Disney is holding back some like Song of the South or movies they plan on re-releasing in the near future.

Came into existence before commercialization was the big driving force for animated kids shows.

I did actually find myself mesmerized by some weird PBSkids show recently which appeared to be from Canada. Some very loose competition in the vein of Carmen Sandiego (minus awesomely bad acting) and some annoying animated dog (?) interludes. Was actually pretty good kids TV. Getting kids interested in something science related early is the best way to get scientists later.

Still, the big four have more or less washed their hands of children.

We don't watch a lot of tv in our house, but over the holidays we kind of got on an old movie kick. I enjoyed watching them again with my boys...I tend to like classics more than the new animated kid friendly shows anyhow.

What we watched:

Where The Red Fern Grows
Old Yeller
Shane
To Kill A Mockingbird
Cocoon

Just found this
Starz retains the rights to air and stream any Disney, Lucasfilm, Marvel or Pixar movie that is released up until Dec. 31, 2015. Any movie released after Jan. 1, 2016 will fall under the new Netflix/Disney deal. That means that "Star Wars: Episode VII" and "The Avengers 2" will fall under Starz' jurisdiction, not Netflix's.

I was sitting with my mom when I saw Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures on CBS for the first time one Saturday morning.

When it was over, I turned to her. "Whoah."

"Yeah, whoah. That was...different."

"I really liked it."

"Me too!"

It seems grandiose to say, but that was a pivotal moment in animation.

the gospel music channel. yes, it exists and like mtv it's name has nothing at all to do with it's actual programming. it's pretty much just reruns of lameass shows like the waltons and 7th heaven. old white people who don't like matlock, but still have no taste whatsoever simply love it.
