Why is there never any debate about British politics on here?

All the bitter US political debate on here. Why no British political debate? When was the last time someone even bothered to insult David Cameron on the GB?

Maybe Britain's just not worth the time to worry about in the 21st century.

Who gives a shit about some island nation that is already underwater?

The Brits on the GB are more worried about American politics.

The US is high profile throughout the world. It seems our politics on anything and everything we do effects the rest of the world. We are an easier target for such debates. We are held to higher standards and looked upon as a model for guidance. And sometimes we disappoint them. It makes less powerful countries feel better to discuss our politics so as to distract attention from their own.

Because you provide the better freakshow.

We don't get as excited about politics as the US.

There are too many issues on which all three main parties agree. They differ on minor points that many people can't get enthused about.

Health: All parties support the NHS.
Defence: All parties support the Armed Forces, and although there have been significant cuts in expenditure, each party when in government wants to reduce the Armed Forces but doesn't actually do much.
Education: They argue about detail but generally support the current system.
Abortion: There might be a medical case for reducing the last point at which abortion is legally possible but if it was to be discussed in Parliament MPs would be given permission to vote freely according to their conscience. The number of abortions performed near or at the last possible date is minute, and most would be covered by 'danger to the health of the mother'.
Spending/Deficit: The parties agree that the deficit needs to be reduced. The difference is that Labour want to take longer, to borrow more in the interim, and get the deficit reduced later.

So what can we argue about?

this is pretty much it.

we have various shapes & sizes of dull, grey men who, on the whole, make dull choices which we grumble about but don't care enough about to get hysterical about.

remember a few years back, when ish made a thread telling us all that we'd be forced to have speed limiting devices & overrides fitted to our cars, because blair had said it was a good idea? the yanks did lots of hand wringing and bemoaned the imminent demise of free will. the brits laughed and said it wouldn't happen. the brits were right.

we have no political high fliers trying to ban contraception. we have no outrage is someone forgets to wear a poppy or a pin or whatever. we don't piddle our panties every time an opinion is expressed.

we care about politics. just not enough to throw a fit.

Brits always go for the status quo, and never budge unless external forces upset the balance.

What do you have to get excited about?

You live on an island that's about half the size of California.

How about the fact that they are wrong?

After all, once something becomes consensus it is time to re-evaluate.

typical american male, thinking bigger is always better and being bigger is all it takes.
No, it does take more than just that. Being significant in terms of the world, for example.

The US is, and the UK isn't.

It's the same reason nobody cares about Spanish politics or Italian politics or Icelandic politics.

I don't know why I have to keep explaining this to British people, but hey... you need to wake up: the Empire is gone.

i'm not a fan of huge peckers. tiny is fine, average is best.

thank you for proving my point

I see what is in your hand.
We eat that like popcorn.
USA! USA! USA!

:D :D :D

If we were American states my part of the UK would be the 39th most populous. Wales would be 31st, Scotland 22nd and England,on its own, FIRST I.E. England is more populous than California.

ETA London would only creep in at 11th

This.

Also, this board is 90% or more yank. Any thread that the ignorant little xenophobes don't understand tends to die fairly quickly.

why do you so desperately need to matter to everyone else?
why do you want it so everyone must listen to you?
what is it you feel the need to prove?

Bigger is real status in America. We cant care less about function, utility, or cost...it only needs be bigger. Thats for males.

American females are price conscious, and price determines worth. Your typical American female has a natural aptitude for appraising any males financial fitness, now or in the future. Theyre better than gifted horse traders at extracting intelligence from common, cosmetic appearances.
