The gov't came out and said there would be unavoidable, unpreventable terrorist attacks over memorial weekend. Malls, Bridges and the Statue of Liberty were attacked.

Nice to see the government has these credible sources.

Thank you, U.S. Government, for spreading terror and scaring people away from shopping malls.

Well it is not like she could get up and move herself... I mean sheesh?

But if the government comes forth and says that it's going to be destroyed, along with some nuclear power plants and stuff and there's nothing we can do about... Shouldn't that sort of thing actually happen?

Isn't this... in a way... telling us where to go and what to do? They're basically saying don't visit the Statue of Liberty or be on the Brooklyn Bridge, because you will die.

Not one of the gov'ts predicted Terror attacks has come true.

One person said that it was an old Republican tactic that when somebody says "You didn't tell us something" they then tell you very loudly and publicly *every* *single* *thing* *remotely* *related* *to* *it*.

What a bore.

Well it is the way they work... they don't tell you about the attacks they know about, but they warn you about the ones that don't happen...

Its an oxymoron, but of course so are they... sheesh ;)

Damn. Don't you just hate when none of the attacks come true, and innocent people don't get killed? If there was an attack without warning, you'd be screaming that we didn't know it was coming.

What kind of moron are you?

By now I would have thought it was obvious that...

these terrorist attack warnings are good to keep the issue in the public mind and a strong poll result for Bush.

He must know about crying wolf though.

Steam is running out of the terrorist 'war' and the it suits the Administration's purposes to keep it going.

The problem is that they're numbing the public... The more that these don't come true, the more people will begin to ignore them. Once that happens what good are they?

Why don't you and pp_man just go buttfuck each other and get it over with.

With all the shit going on the in the world, this is the best you could come up with?

It definitely is a situation of being damned if you do and damned if you don't.

um...wrong, fucktard.

they never said it would be this weekend. they said in the future...and they are right.

Numbing the same public that insists every i be dotted and every t be crossed. You can't have it both ways. Either every purported warning is made public and you deal with them accordingly OR the warnings aren't made public and, god forbid, one of the attacks is successful, you don't scream because you weren't warned.

John Q. Public wants every warning made public. SO be it.

amen morninggirl

and could someone help me with the author of this quote...

"the poititions suck, but the people are no bargain either."

But are these 'credible threats'. They say that when a prisoner mentions 'bridge' they immediately put The Golden Gate, Brooklyn, and other important bridges on red alert before examining if the prisoner knows anything, is talking out of his ass, and is in a position to know about these attacks.

They've given us roughly 100 warnings and nothing has happened. Perhaps there isn't any truth or validity to any of them.

Im not the most politically minded or public spirited guy but two large planes crash landing in your backyard has a way of skewering your perception and I just dont want something like that happening again.

The bush administration made a huge mistake when they started talking and giving details about the intellignece they had before 9/11. Rice went and did a press conference all about it which was incredibly stupid.

You don't comment on intelligence period. Thats the golden rule.

Tell congress they can have Private hearings all they want but we are not going to discuss intelligence matters in public. Thats how you blow operations and thats how you get people killed.

I was here all weekend, what are you talking about?

THey said that a terrorist attack was definitely going to happen over memorial day weekend. They said it was unpreventable and unavoidable and that it would be against the Statue of Liberty and some NY bridges and possibly some Nuclear Power Plants.
