Why is my story still pending?

I submitted a story about two weeks ago and it is still listed as pending. Literotica says it usually takes about 72 hours to get a story up on the site. Is this usually how long it takes or is there something wrong I'm not aware of? Can anyone help me here? It's my first story.
Thanks.

Have you clicked on the "Pending" link? If you do, the whole process starts over. You have to submit it and then leave it for a week or so. My first post took about 7 days.

If you didn't hit the "Pending" link and it hasn't posted, you might want to PM Laurel and ask what's up.

Elianna - thanks for the response. I don't remember clicking on the pending link, but maybe I did. I'm not sure. But I'll give it a couple more days and then try to PM Laurel (is there a place I can find her? Who is she?)

If you go to the Main Literotica Forums link. The top thread is Site Annoucements. Laurel and Manu are the moderators. Click on Laurel. It should show her AV "kitty mamma"

On the right is the "Contact Info"

Below says "send a private message to laurel"

Click on that and there you go.

There's easier ways. Finding a post of hers and then clicking on her AV on the post gives you the option, too.

Good luck.

There's a contest going on. If its not a contest entry it takes the back seat, be patient.

Oh how I miss MathGirl!

To quote some of her more famous responses:
"Usually three to five days. Up to a week if the editor's bleeding piles are acting up."
"Usually three to five days. May take up to a week if the story contains sex with sheep or renting of pigs."
" Usually three to five days. Sometimes as long as a week if the editor is out chasing cats again."
"Usually three to five days. Sometimes up to a week if the editor has committed ritual sepuku."

And to show she won't mind:
" I would be SO pleased if someone liked my stuff enough to steal it."

Sounds like MathGirl would be a little snotty to give that answer to this thread. Samuel667 stated that the story had been in pending for about two weeks. That's much longer than three to five days as well as than any posted guidance on the Web site. Seems reasonable for Samuel667 to ask about it--and to be given a civil response.

Yes, but this is the same MathGirl who spawned the immortal phrase,
I kikced down the dor and camed in her fase
which never fails to get me into gales of giggles whenever I see it. :D (In other words, her brain didn't quite work along the same lines everyone else's did.)

Her Haiku thread was the best. I still bump it in the AH from time to time. I miss her terribly.

CWatson: Mathgirl was also Dirtgirl. Look up her "Dubious Dictionary" sometime in the stories. :D

eta: oops, just checked. She had it in the AH under Dirtgirl, but it's in the stories under MG. Here's the first one: The Dubious Dictionary

I've submitted non-contest stories during contests many a time. It still shouldn't take a fortnight to post.

Has it posted yet, Sam?

I've had to wait that long before for one of mine to post. It does vary quite a bit. And I've never heard of a story being completely forgotten by the site editors.

Totally correct both times. One of "my" writers saw his story up and running less than 20 minutes after he submitted it; another waited more than two weeks.

If consolation is needed, even the slowest approval here is still several quanta faster than acceptance by a print publisher.

I stand corrected. :) Sorry. It does seem a very long time to wait though.

No, I think you were right. I've posted over 300 stories and it's never been more than a week to post even during contests.

If it's taken two weeks and the pending button wasn't punched during that time, I think it's quite legitimate to ask about it--and not to receive snide comments for doing so.

I thought Elianna's answer was quite legitimate and not a snide comment, so the original question had at this point been resolved. After that, SCB was simply reminiscing a bit since this sort of question does get asked a lot, but I don't feel that this was a snide comment in its own right.

As I posted, I think that if MathGirl had posted what Snooper indicated was appropriate to this query, it would have been a snotty response. I think the question was a legitimate one and was answered by others well--well before and more appropriately than Snooper posted.

And it's answered now. Looking for Sam to come back and say that the story got posted.

Definitely.

I guess what I was trying to get across is that since Math Girl didn't, in fact, post to this thread, I don't see the issue and I don't think any of the other posters were being snotty to the OP. I've seen a few cases of new forum users being scared away by excess snarkiness, but this isn't one of them.

Sorry, I read MathGirl as a surrogate comment by Snooper. Why else bring it up at all? The context (three to five days delay) isn't even appropriate to original posting. Two weeks is definitely a good time to be starting to ask.

You have to realize that the original comment was made a very long time ago, when the waiting period really was shorter.

As I said, I believe he was simply reminiscing because Math Girl used to give snarky answers to this often repeated question (though this one is slightly different and possibly more legitimately asked than others of its kind) and she is very much missed around here.

Don't see where being missed has a bearing on the issue. But we're already twelve minutes over the fifteen minutes of sunlight for this one, so see no need to worry it further.

It doesn't - but you know fully well how few threads in the AH ever stay completely on topic, and I after the original question has been answered, I don't see any problem with the post in question being in this thread, even though it might not have a bearing on the exact issue being discussed.

And so you want to make the thread about me now, I take it. Sorry, I'll stick with the topic given and the various responses to it--one of which I thought was quite unnecessary and not helpful to the question. So, sue me.

Not at all. I'm not trying to make the thread about anything, I was just trying to explain my position.

However, speaking of it - you griping about others going off topic is not considered by itself to be off-topic? Or are there varying degrees of off-topic-ness that I'm not aware of?

So, you're lonely tonight and just need to spin everything out, I take it.
