...cool, sexy, stylish... and just plain good?

Whether you're American, British or even French, I need some reaction.

Yes I would like to know your opinions for some University work, yes it is due tomorrow, but its a presentation and i need to know why y'all think its good... or even bad!

It's the confidence. The complete and total confidence that he can say and do anything and come off dashing.

*adds keywords 'Connery' 'suave' and 'dashing' to cuecards*

This is pretty much what i was expecting... Thanks girls!

about as far as i've got...

It falls to me to speak about the phenomenon that is Commander James Bond 007: License to Kill.

Bond straddles the US and UK film industries like some kind of gargantuan behemoth. One foot firmly planted in each camp.

To the Americans, he’s the quintessential Englishman. He has the accent, charisma, dry humour and penchant for suits that most Americans just don’t have.

For the Brits, he’s everything that’s good and patriotic about Britain and England. He’s serving Queen and country, he’s driving Aston Martins, he’s going round the World kicking foreigners up the backside whilst wearing a Union Jack parachute, and, above all, seducing women left right and centre.

As for the men who play bond they are usually the type of men who just make the women swoon in scores. If women went to war, these men would be a formidable weapon, felling legion after legion of lusting femininity, melting them into pools of gooey desire. James Bond is suave, dashing and confident, which correlates with my not-so-extensive research Whether its Connery, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan Bond is one of these characters, because he has everything. Bond movies themselves, have everything we have come to expect from them.

Bond and everything he entails, vehicles, gadgets, girls, explosions, exotic locations. These are all combined with action, adventure, romance, good versus evil.

The evil characters are extremely important in a Bond movie. First of all he’s got to have an impregnable base, a legion of troops, be a dead-eye shot, be impervious to pain or some such nonsense. It’s the kind of Bond-style tat that only he can pull off with any kind of regularity.

The villains themselves are statistically more likely to be played by British actors than other nationality, especially in recent years. There are a number of reasons for this.

Bond films are usually shot on location at Pinewood Studios, England. There is an old fashioned sense of “Bond is British, We have to bring British actors in to play parts.” Secondly, Political Correctness demands that only Britons can play the bad guys. America isn’t allowed to offend anyone. So they obviously can’t use themselves because that would be un-patriotic. They can’t use Germans or Japanese because of the Second World War, Russians because of the Cold War, Hispanics because there are so many of them in America, Nobody African or African-American either, because all these races and nations have been stereotyped as bad guys during the last fifty years or so. So, amongst the few countries that are left, is Britain. We’ve always been the ‘good guys’. Just look at James Bond! He’s a good guy! So in they draft the British actors to play the bad guys. The final reason for having British actors is that they’re probably some of the best in the world. Lots of theatre, proper training, even down to the tradition of good drama on the BBC, British actors are generally seen as better. Now, evil characters tend to be the best roles, they have depth, a purpose in life. Money, power, revenge, whatever. Its really cool to play a downright nasty character, its just more fun for the actor. Sneering, maniacal laughter, strutting round looking powerful, its just fun to do.

James Bond is my hero, because, he's just SO damn cool. Blows stuff up. Kills bad guys, and, gets more ass then a toilet.

I like Roger Moore as James Bond. Dalton and Brosnan totally ruined it for me.

James Bond is sexy and suave. He loves women and women love him, but he is forever elusive.

I'd fuck him.

Dalton as Bond makes me wanna throw up...
Brosnan and Moore are both okay, but Connery is my favourite.

Two words.

SEAN CONNERY

Exactly, even when he's looking scruffy in "The Rock," he's still the hottest man to walk the planet. Pierce Brosnan should be his man servant.

Presentation went really well... I even had cue cards...

It was a group project... we were talking about the portrayal of BRitish/English characters and Actors by the UK and US film industries. I talked about James Bond 'cos its sits nicel in the middle.

thanks for the help
