Why is it?

Thats the radio stations around here edit out the word "Cocaine" out of the song "picture" By Kid Rock and Sheryl crow,..

But an hour later PLay "Cocaine" By Eric Clapton.in its entirety?

I wondered about that myself. One radio station here plays the original version, the other station plays the edited version. And I've heard songs with MUCH more graphic images than that one throws into the mind.

It all comes down to the station management. And whether or not they are open to suggestion. :D

I live in the Bible Belt...saying the word "damn" on radio is something that makes little bible-toting matrons GASP.

They have no problem playing the 'faggot' verse from Money For Nothing, but delete the 'god' in 'goddamn' sometimes.

The first song is a threat because it promotes drug use among the people who listen to it.

The second song reminds the stations owners of the happy, carefree days of their youth.

Its a control issue.

I do know that Clapton's song is actually anti drug though.

I wouldnt say its promoting it...... The guy is depressed, "Fueling up on cocaine and whiskey"

I woud say hes singing about the life he doesnt want..... He wants her

You see it that way, most people see it that way. Sadly the morons at some record stations don't think!:(

Cocaine anti drug

Picture is promoting drug use.....

They do the same thing here EE, then 20 minutes later play songs talking about getting some tits and ass lol....;)

Artist : Eric Clapton
Song : Cocaine

If you wanna hang out you've got to take her out; cocaine.
If you wanna get down, down on the ground; cocaine.
She's alright, she's alright, she's alright; cocaine

when u got bad news, you wanna kick them blues; cocaine.
When your day is done and you wanna run on; cocaine.
She's alright, she's alright, she's alright; cocaine.

If your thing is gone and you wanna ride on; cocaine.
Don't forget this fact, you can't get it back; cocaine.
She's don't lie, she's don't lie, she's don't lie; cocaine.

She don't lie, She don't lie, She don't lie; cocaine

i think EC was employing the doublespeak of the blues tradition-

the narrator embracing the very thing that gives him the blues...

as in the blues themselves...

i dunno, maybe he was sick of the smack at that time...

dreaming of a speedball...

thankfully he's been sober for many years now-

id rather listen to kid rock personally...

I've noticed that with swear words too. I was wondering if maybe they had a certain amount of money set aside for fines... or maybe certain words are allowed at certain times.

A local FM station played Aersmith's "Just Push Play" the other night. Heh heh...DJ came on afterwards and in a nervous voice..."OOPS, wrong version...sorry about that folks...sure I will hear about this tomorrow." Guess that he was in trouble for the "FNA" parts heh heh (does sound like fuckin A on the song, and I think that is what is being said too.)

I think in Canada the censorship laws are more lax.

I was listening to the Edge the other nite and they played She Hates Me by Puddle of Mudd.

The chorus goes, clear as day:

She fucking hates me
she fucking hates me
I tried too hard
and she tore my feelings like I had none
and ripped them away

no one cares.

we Canadians are above all that. **snoot snoot**

Doesn't make sense to me.

First time I heard it, it was left in. A day later is was out.

Stupidity.

Ms. Maines always did irritate me. I'm not a big "Chicks" fan, but how come all of a sudden when she's away from home, she has so much to say?

Just wondering!
