Why is it okay to bring up my profession when arguing with me?

Only someone who is truly ignorant would present your occupation in their argument with you, Siren. It is only their way of showing fear to you.

as your personal nurse

I must say you need a massage and warm oil all over you - your BP is up and your heart rate is soaring - now relax and follow me - ignore the ignorant and the crass - they are just jealous!

Now take a sip of this warm tea....

Thank you both, you sexy men

:p

Siren, you already know the answer: people bring up extraneous bullshit (like trying to use your profession as a weapon against you) when they've run out of real arguments.

Take such instances as both a compliment to your debating skills and a marker of the corner in which your opponent feels trapped. Then gut him/her.

Cym.....you are right....so right.

:p

Hey, how are things with you and yours?

I havent heard much about that lately, or did I miss it?
Everything is fine, Siren, just fine. The dust has settled, as we all knew it would. He's promised me one post a day to Lit... ~g~ ... i'm going slow on getting him addicted.

To my knowledge, no one in my family knows of my participation in this site. But to this date, 3 of my ex-girlfriends know that I am a writer and resident of Lit and all 3 said that my stories get them warm and wet.

I would probably die if anyone in my family knew of my erotic side. LOL

Have you ever used your profession to win an argument?

I know several of the lawyers have. I am not accusing you, just observing.

If you have used it for, then against is valid too.

In an argument, not a mutual flame-fest that is.

There may be standards for the former, but no guarantees with the latter.

I would never use your profession against you or any other lawyers that inhabit Lit...

Because I would never be dumb enough to debate you! Talk about masochistic! ;)

I don't care what your profession is... you're cool in my book!

Siren

i bet you look cute when you are mad.

how about a pic of them eyes?;)

They bring up it up because they are intimidated Siren. It is often the case when dealing with the less articulate. I believe it is called "low blows" and I am not talking BJs.:D

You are being the professionally intelligent hot sex babe that you are with the having the lawyer label stucking on you! I am never the bringing up of this in the manner that is the unpleasing I am hoping the anyway that I am the never of the doing of this unless it is being in the lit up heart that is in the chest of the Gnufi. I am now the telling you though that the Dillinger is always the going on and on about those "damn fucking lawyers" so it is you are the watching out for the him. But the me I would never be mentioning the anything extraneous about the anyone for what else is being the important other than it is they are having the big tits and the wet pussy?

Wish I could remember my philosophy classes better...

What they are doing is a very old technique of argument, known in translation as 'Arguing against the man' (ad hominem?)

When your position sucks, and/or your debating skills are obviously weaker than your opponent, a workable, if distasteful, strategm is to attack your opponent by any means available, rather than attempt to counter their arguments.

Typically, people who try that with me just get laughed at, as I see it as a priori evidence of their impending defeat.

It isn't okay, but people will always bring it up if they haven't anything logical to say. Having said that, you lawyer you!!!!!! Just kidding, you know how much I enjoy talking to you. When are you coming to Texas, anyway????

as a lawyer....

you can't respond to all this crap! It's just a means of upsetting you, and you can count on him/them/the amalgamated trolls doing it again. Next time, just ignore it - don't forget that these guys have ingested the Republican tonic about "trial lawyers" as being responsible for all of the world's ills. Not that you're a trial lawyer, but I'd love to see Markov, AJ, Todd, Miles and the lot of them disdaining a lawyer after their Explorer's Firestones blew up and partially decapitated them all.

Why not deal with me at this level, one on one?

Why is important to use my profession as some kind of insult towards me, and not simply argue with me as a person here?

I dont say, you are an uneducated or under educated or non professional person....

So why is it okay to turn my career on me when arguing with me or debating with me?

I am really sick of this.

Maybe I should now, act all high and mighty and say I am intelligent and you are not, obvously since you are not a professional

How would you like that ?

Because you carry an unfair advantage in to any argument that people pick with you, and that is...

That as a lawyer you have been trained to argue and they haven't.

Tsk tsk tsk that is so un-just.

Siren, whatever information you make public can be used against you at a later date. If you don't want it used, don't make it known. It's a shitty thing to use in an argument, but then again I haven't seen WD start another thread about it either. Go ahead, flame away.

A beheaded Todd for a guilty OJ. I'd have to think on that one a bit.
