I would hazard that there are a lot of factors that influence any persons decision to post no longer..But my guess is the main one, is they just no longer enjoy it. For whatever reason.

Thats the bit I find sad, I can cope with other reasons but when people no longer enjoy Lit it means that as a community we have not been able to meet there needs.

I knew there was a caring service sub in me somewhere. I may have inadvertantly stumbled across her!!!

That is true, but we can't be all things to all people all the time unfortunately, especially as small as we are. Continued discussion helps, diversity of discussion helps, tolerance helps......and lurkers yes, you know who I mean!! ...there are 3 of you I can think of in the blink of an eyelid , join in and post away, please!!

What I have seen is there is a minority that harrasses or attacks a certain few. They are unhappy or have a sadistic nature. They may not like and even admit they dont like everyone. But they attack a certain few until they leave or change their posting habits.

There is a lot of garbage that comes your way here at lit. Sometimes it is someone or a few people that just love to disagree with you no matter what you say.

You have grow a tough skin for it.

I have seen others still who have made friends and have been burned often. After a time it takes a toll on you. You need at least a break to recharge your batteries.

You can not expect to jump into a bb and think your going to make all these great and wonderful friends. You will meet wonderful people but just like in rl you have to develop the friendships and see how they are over time. True friendship grows over time with mistakes, arguements, good times, fun and laughs. It bulds the friendship.

Perhaps...But then, IS it the idea that they are coming here to have their "needs" met? And is it the responsibility of a forum or board to do so?
Perhaps not... Well, other than the capacity to answer some questions (often the same ones over and over). Keeping in mind that those answers are often either anecdotal, or experience/opinion based.

Which, when you think about some of the things that are discussed on here, is pretty damned ridiculous...Now isn't it?

Oh, you should know I'd give you anything you want for just a little fun.

But, bars here aren't really like that. Sure, there would be vanilla types I could take home, I'm sure, but you must understand it's easier for the woman to find someone they like than it is for the man to.

In all areas, the woman is catered to quite a bit more than the man is. Shit, in some areas, they even get into the bars for free.

As far as kink, there are some that cater to the gay and lesbian crowd, but I'm not gay or lesbian. It would also be confusing to try and pick someone up there.

And, I'm not really looking for a one night stand, as that wouldn't be difficult to obtain. What I'm looking for is some sexual fun, long term. Not looking for a significant other, unless that is what someone else is looking for.

I'm open in that area. Sometimes when you say you are looking for that special someone, you scare the fun crowd off. The fun crowd is fun, if you know what I mean.

Now, if you ever plan a trip down this way, I do have a very nice place we could meet and talk. Then, after a drink or two...or three?, we could venture to my place for a nice session of fun. Then, in the morning, after breakfast...I might even allow you to leave!

Your right EKVITKAR it is ridiculous but people are people I wonder if part of the reason to 'flame' an individual is a power issue.
When the trolls stroll through here they are not flamed in the same way, nor does it appear to affect their postings.

I can think of at least three posteres who have left because everytime they posted they appear to cause offence or caused a disagreement (which they did not intend to do).
I sometimes wonder if lurkers lurk for that very reason.

Posting as a new person can be nervewracking especially if you start up, or join into, a thread that becomes ummm.... 'interesting'.

I have never noticed being flamed so I either don't post provocative issues or people are to polite to tell me its rubbish!!

It amazes me that as a community (online and r/l) we are not always tolerant of other peoples kinks and interests. It is almost like a secret or hidden agenda of issues that are 'off limits.'
