I've never selected to ignore another poster, chosing to take Lit. tits and all, as a whole.

So I am curious as to why some bodies place other bodies on ignore....

Errrr... ummmm....

I've only ignored one person, and that was because his sig was SOOO overbearing and I found the actual content slightly offensive. I've since taken his name off of my ignore list, because I do miss bits of conversation when he does post in certain threads. I know I can turn off the sig option, but then I would miss everyone else's sigs and I think everyone's sigs reveal a little of their personality.

Other than maybe too many unwanted PMs, maybe harrassing PMs? Hell, I dunno why people ignore. I know I made someone's ignore list once... YaY! :nana:

I think I'm rambling now.... :p

I only have one and it was because they were just out to harass people and they bugged the hell out of me. Normally, I don;t ignore anyone because you take the good with the bad.

I've put two people on ignore.

Mostly because it meant they could no longer send PMs.

There was a time a little while back when I felt I had to be able to deal with everything here or nothing, and it got to be a "I dare you thing."

However, there are real people with real problems, some with mental illness. It seemed like I was stepping over corpses on the way to my favorite place. So I left the place for several months.

Not putting someone on ignore was a personal dare I applied to myself, but having people just inject the most hateful things into my daily gab with friends, prompted ignore.

Rather like going to see a good movie and having someone splice in bits from a pedophilia film I didn't care to see. But by not placing it on ignore, being called a pedophile.

Left for a little bit to rid myself of the idea I had to be here, had to accept everything the place has to offer, as these posters were suggesting, or in fact wanted it. I don't, I didn't, and the accusations stopped after leaving for a bit. Now I feel free to ignore/delete what I don't want to have forced upon me.

You're quite right about that, Recidiva.

I put these ones on ignore because of the bullshit, plus the over dramatics. If I want that, I'd watch a soap opera LOL

I don't mind bullshit and drama. That can be fun among friends, truly. But when someone starts death threats and says that not ignoring them is encouraging them to do so, that's a little oogy.

I tend to not back down from a challenge, but privately (again, the PMs being a key issue) it's best not to play into someone's fantasy.

It's like someone saying "If you listen to me at all, I win."

So I make sure they're not winning.

Good for you!!!

No, these are definitely not friends, nor were there any death threats.

What is a shame is when a thread starts to loose it's meaning, because of one or two that tend to have a penchance for overtaking it and being in control.

I've only ignored one person (new guy) because he was an ass to me here and on Yahoo. Other than that, no problems.

I so far have no-one on my ignore list, there is only one person who sometimes has me reaching for the button though and that is Matthew Craig, a juvenile troll in all ways..

Regards responses, I thought this would be a very female thread ... Thank you, Azul and Mark!

I have so many people on ignore I have lost count. I don't like people being rude. I choose to ignore those people rather than read their put-downs.

Giving it some thought....

Those who post words ending in -ing on The Word Express thread.

..and ... People whose location entries stretch past the screen frame.

I have only ignored one person, at least using the function, I ignore a great many more especially when I stray to the GB... The one person was just such a total gimp that I really had to ignore him before I burst a blood vessel reading some more bollocks he was writing.

This is exactly how I feel and she put it WAY better than I could have.
