Okay, I took Meeko and Lestat, my two babies, to the vet to be spayed, and for lestat to have three deformed claws removed. This is what happened.

As the vet was shaving Meeko (the grey cat in the lower left hand corner of attached picture) she flipped out and he cut her! Now she has an absest on her leg where he cut her. Also, her incision line is infected. She may need more surgery now.

As for Lestat (the black cat who is the spotlight of the picture), she needed three claws removed, because they where deformed. He removed two and a half of them, leaving one half of one in her paw. Also, Lestat's stitches are on os tightly, it is going to be painfull to remove them.

This vet uses a method (on the cats side rather than stomach) that is twenty years out of date. (Meaning, it hasn't been used since before I was born!) Also, he is an alcholic. We didn't discover this untill this morning, when a neighbor gave my mother an old news paper clipping about this vet.

Now, both cats are in huge ammounts of pain, and I have to try and give Meeko liquid medicien that it takes three people to adminsiter to her (she is a very squermy cat).

aww...sweetie that sucks!!!

But, it could have been worse, right? I mean, at least their walking around and eating. But Meeko lost half a pound, and has a temp...

Can you take them to another vet? I understand they have emergency services if it gets bad overnight.

You can then bill moron for it, even if you have to pay for it out of your own pocket. Just find a vet that's willing to back you up in court when you take him.

There are at least four other vets in the city I live in. We only went to him because he is the cheepest (and because when my mother was growing up, he was the vet her family took the dogs and cats to). The vet we took the cats to today is more than willing to either go with us to court, or have a signed afidavid (sp) stating that his methods where wrong and out of date..

For anyone who wants to see what he did, I'll have pictures tomorrow.

Ok, this pisses me off!
I'm so so sorry Basia. Sue! Call!
Poor babies.

You rock, Basia.

I'm sure your babies will feel better very soon. After all, they have a fabulous momma like you making sure of it!

:)

I totally understand your anger and need to vent but I feel I must point something out---by putting the vet's name here you have publicly slandered him, meaning he can sue you. I would let people know the area you live in and that they can pm you to get the name of the vet not to go to (just an idea).
Hope both sweet looking kitties get better soon.

:D

I'm not the only one upset about all of this, Steve and my mom are both ripshit about it. So it's the three of us against one geriatric vet... :D

Honestily, I don't think it would be slander if there have been articles in papers written about his misbehavior with animals. However, I did edit my posts acordingly.

As promised, here are the pics of my poor kitties in their current state. They may be a bit much for some. Don't say I didn't warn you.

This is Meeko's absesed insision line, and the other cut she came home with. Dosn't she look miserable?

This is Lestat's insision line. You can't really see it, but her stitches are way too tight.

I can completely understand your outrage Basia. One of my babies is a rescue who was very ill when a certain rescue organization got her. They let a vet student from a prominant vet college in Mass spay her. the usual 2 inch straight incision became a 4" one with two 2" ones branching off the bottom like an upside down Y. He used external stitches on the inside so she has scar tissue around them which may require surgery later to remove them. I was lucky enough to find a wonderful vet who helped me nurse her through the subsequent infections and complications. Good luck with your babies and if you want the name of a good vet let me know:) I love ours.

Our regular vet is great. We only went to this other vet because we couldn't afford the other's prices.
