I gather we should classify a D/s relationship as functional and the other as dysfunctional.
I thank you for your good wishes and I am trying to become a good guy again, so people can stop calling me a moron. I never knew it but you can actually get tired of hearing that. :D

Actually, I think that the problem isn't as much about BDSM or debasement as it is about honest communication. Whenever a person has desires or issues that could affect their relationship and they don't communicate them to their SO, then the relationship is already at risk.

I had a gf once who had a drinking problem, but she hid it well and never told me about it. When I did find out (in a rather ugly scene at my bestfriend's wedding) I was furious. Had she discussed it with me at the beginning of our relationship, it would not have been an issue. As she lied and concealed it, I felt that I couldn't trust her at all.

Btw, Congratulations on a rather good turn-around.

Thank you. I think you are right it is honest communication - however, I do think that sometimes you have to walk away. I once had an alcoholic girlfriend that hid it for three months. I found out when she tried to pick up a driver when she came to visit me for lunch. She thought me to walk away from alcoholics and most personality altering addictions. But at least you should have a choice.

Hello Fallin Snow,
After Madison, WI I never wanted to see any snow again - but in your case I will most definitely make an exception.
Honey, that was my original statement and while I felt it at the time, I also stated it as a pot stirrer to get a discussion going, I have modified my position greatly. I think a declared D/s relationship is fine, not for me, but fine for those who want it.
My problem is with a person who wants to be debased, which I am told is not the same as being a sub, does not declare it and when her desires are unfulfilled turning her frustrations against her unknowing partner.
I gather we should classify a D/s relationship as functional and the other as dysfunctional.
I thank you for your good wishes and I am trying to become a good guy again, so people can stop calling me a moron. I never knew it but you can actually get tired of hearing that. :D

well thanks for making the exception for me..

well i am glad you realy did listen to what was said.. by all. i have noticed alot dont. they just keep on and keep on.

((hugs))

I would just like to say that I don't like subs either. I prefer hoagies.

Thank you for letting me vent.

:)

This is true. They're just too gosh darn big, though. You get a good hoagie roll and it's only like five inches long. I eat a sub and I'm down for the count like a married man on turkey day.

I am bump-a-bumping this thread for any last comments - please at least skim through it before you react to the opening comment - there were numerous changes and numerous reactions. In other words, don't repeat everything that has been said.
Enjoy.
