Why I am a Democrat


I am a Democrat because I believe that a person's intrinsic value is not tied up in gender, race, class, creed, or sexual orientation.
I am a Democrat because I believe in social justice and the power of positive social change.

I am a Democrat because I believe that all people have a right to a quality education, opportunities for economic advancement, and cultural and social advantages that have traditionally only been doled out to the wealthy and powerful.

I am a Democrat because I believe that we all have a responsibility to ensure that our fellow human beings are treated with dignity and respect.

I am a Democrat because I believe that health care is a human right.

I am a Democrat because I believe that the working people of this country have a right to organize, collectively bargain, and work for their own economic security.

I am a Democrat because I believe that women should receive the same pay as men.

I am a Democrat because I believe that people have the right to make decisions about their bodies without government involvement.

I am a Democrat because while I support sensible gun safety laws, I also support the Second Amendment for law-abiding sportsmen and other gun owners, even if I would never purchase a weapon myself.

Most of all, I am a Democrat because I deeply love my country, and I continuously hope for the day in which all of our dreams become reality.
