The fact that it's contagious isn't sufficient reason to shut down the entire world's economy.

Take precautions, yes; but not to the extremes we went to and are STILL trying to implement.

The meme shows that wearing a mask IF YOU'RE SICK prevents transmission 95% of the time. I'm assuming that's correct and don't really care if it is or isn't because 5% or 4.8% or even 6% isn't the point. The point is that healthy people not wearing a mask aren't likely to get sick in most instances. In fact the data seems to indicate that it takes more than short casual exposure to transmit the virus. What that appears to say is that if you exercise discretion and don't go hugging everyone in sight for half an hour straight, you'll probably be fine.

Then there's the fact that if you're not sick, then there's ZERO risk of you transmitting the virus to someone else so there's no reason to wear a mask.

Yes, I know, you're going to raise the "but you could be asymptomatic" crap again. Somehow you're not getting the message that this is nothing more than YOUR PROJECTIONS ONTO OTHERS merely because they aren't wearing a mask. It's become some sort of reflex that if you see someone not wearing a mask, you ASSUME that they're "super spreaders" without ANY DATA AT ALL.

It's projection. Nothing more, nothing less.

Now let's talk about the "we have flu shots" thing. The flu shot is a "best guess" at which strain will be most active that season. It's not perfect and the drug companies make mistakes. Plus, even if you get the shot, there's no guarantee that you won't also catch the flu.

So even with the shot, it's still contagious and still deadly for a huge number of people. Yet we don't shut down the economy of the ENTIRE DAM WORLD over it.

Asthma isn't contagious but instances are on the rise. Where's the concern about the air pollution that appears to be causing it? It kills people so why haven't we shut down the world economy over it?

Then there's cancer which I didn't mention earlier. We shut down the world economy and devoted trillions of dollars toward trying to find a cure for CV19 which, hopefully, won't be around very long. But we can't do the same for cancer?

Why?

Is the big scary disease from China that terrifying? Really? How about looking up the statistics for your risk in getting cancer - notably it's somewhere around 45% for most people and increases to over 60% for men over 50. And there's NOT A DAM THING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT if you're predisposed genetically.

Do we shut down the world economy for that? No. You know why not? Because it's not been hyped by the media into fear mongering talking points that are intended to make you so afraid that they can control your actions. They control YOU. As in making you wear a mask. That's called "ownership".

No one "owns" me. If you're good with being a slave, great. I hope you enjoy your chains.

Lockdown or no lockdown, do you think older people or people with underlying health conditions are going to go out to casinos, theaters, restaurants, bars , concerts, and sporting events before a vaccine or an effective treatment is available????

Places are opening up and Covid cases are rising. The older people with money who really fuel the high end service economy, casinos, theaters, travel, restaurants, and yes, even prostitution, are not going back to "normal" until a proven treatment or vaccine is available.

I don't use any of those services, so I'm currently not feeling deprived of anything. The only thing I'm really worried about is the interruption in movie and television productions. I'm guessing closed sets are going to take on a whole new meaning for the foreseeable future.

My stocks are killing it. Markets looking good from my perspective. If you look at historic patterns there's always a huge increase in profits after a 'recession'. Right now the USD is low, CAD is high so due to currency exchange it's still a good time for me to buy.
