How can you actually KNOW anything about the persons attending the church in question? Are you familiar with their doctrines? Some churches are actually quite gay friendly, and some church-goers are actually gay.

I was just assuming the worst, in the sense that some churches want to deny gays their rights and others don't give a damn. For the ones that don't give a damn, the disturbance would have been just an annoyance. For the bigots, it would have validated their bigotry.

The gay organization that crashed the church service MIGHT HAVE done things differently and won a convert or two to their cause RATHER THAN disrupt a religious service of people who were peacefully assembled and Constitutionally protected from the abuse they got.

I recently made this same argument with a Southern Heritage organization that has adopted the IN YOUR FACE confrontational style of other groups. In years gone by theyve preserved graves and cemeteries of the war dead and focused their attention on good deeds that appeal to everyone. But these days the leadership prefers controversy, intimidation, and confrontation. And I let them know I don't endorse what they do and refuse to associate with them. What these fools do stigmatizes me as well.

I finally had to take JBJ off iggy long enough to read that story. The church in question already is anti-gay & lesbian and believes that beings that we are committing a sin by being who and what we are. In other words, their dogma is queers are all going to hell.

That said the group that protested are a bunch of counter productive nitwits. You don't win the publics hearts and minds through intimidation. I do question how unbiased the report was however. They repetitively said that the protesters "threw" pamphlets at people. Unless they folded them in to little airplanes, I would say that "somebody" was trying to make more of a story than was really there.

A good point to a certain extent. Unfortunately, there are enough anti-gays that they blur together and all appear that same as well. Unfortunately, anti-gays are more "accepted" than gays. Basically, we may not like it, but we're used to it.

As far as the gays mentioned in the article; yeah, they acted like douchebags (to use your word) but they also did so representing their cause. It doesn't matter if it's just one of them saying, "Hey, I'm an ass." They said , "Hey, we're asses."

Most gay people, I believe at least, live normal lives and go home to a same-sex partner. When attention is drawn to gays, it tends to be something more dramatic, which simply adds to the stereotypes. For people not following the politics in question (and I mostly don't follow much politics these days) they see things like this and judge based on that. And, yes, they vote.

Lemme say that more simply: If you don't follow football (American football) they Dallas Cowboys might look like a bunch of ass holes. Why? Mostly, we're seeing T.O. in the news.

I know nothing at all about the chuch in question, not even the particular denomination. In particular, I don't know what their stand is on gay marriage. Therefore, I refrained fom expressing an opinion.

Apparently, you know nothing either, but that did not stop you from labeling them as close-minded and anti-gay.
