Why does shampoo cost so much?

Recently, while shopping for shampoo, I noticed a large discrepancy in price between the "cheap" stuff and the "good" stuff but the ingredients seemed to be about the same. What's up with that? (Lasher, I realize that this is another in a series of questions that I have posed, but that's just my nature).

*groan*

If you look closely, the cheap stuff is "sham" poo, while the good stuff is "real" poo...

(Sorry, I had to say something.)

Lasher, you certainly are...

very clever. I truly enjoy your wit as well as the sense of individuality that you bring to this site. Truly!
I may not always agree with what you have to say, but I sure do like reading the stuff.

Brand names, hon! You're paying for the name, that's all. Buy Suave, it's cheap and as good as the higher priced "poo".

And it had teeth!

April, love, what's up with that tagline you have" Have you hugged your kitty today?"

No, but I petted her pussy; does that count?<grins>

Nah, I just worded it that way to expose those with dirty minds! LOL Actually, I'm owned by two kitties.

It just keeps getting worse.

I'm a little confused. Is this your way of telling us that you live in a " Cat House" ??<snicker>

if you think shampoo is expensive, can you imagine what real "poo" would cost?
yes, i know, a tired joke, but then so am i.

Didn't you know?? The expensive stuff is expensive, because of the price of the animals it has been tested on.

Well I have long hair, down to the middle of my back...And I noticed, that when my wife buys the cheap shampoo,it doesen't rinse out as good, and I have tangles up the ass....The better stuff, leaves my hair alot smoother, and less tangles.....When I comb my hair after a shower,I hate it when the comb gets tangled and pulls all my hair out..."OUCHHHH."

Being hard pressed for cash in Walmart, I was wondering about the same thing 2 months ago, until i was reminded about what VO5 (cheap stuff) did to my hair. It made it perpetually greasy! Usually you are paying for quality as well as the name, but I can't endorse paying $5+ for Shampoo of any sort. Just stay away from Pantene: it may be good while you';re using it, but your build up is casues by the animal fat in the product (shudders). Products that give you bang for your buck include: Herbal Essences, Tresseme, Aussie, L'Oreal Vive, and Citrishine. Just my oppinion ;-).
