that a lot of the people who post here are lyng through teeny, weeny milk teeth?

When the going gets heavy on a proper adult type debate, suddenly you find posters coming in saying...

"I was in the special forces you ppman have never seen violent death. NO I thought not"

or

"I was in a special unit to the north of Afghanistan ( or Iraq) and shit happens."

or

"My best friend was in the front line movement behind enemy lines during thre gulf war"

Isn't anaybody a normal grunt anymore?

In the UK we call them squaddies...

But the same type of people...

Never volunteer

Keep your head down

Don't annoy the Sergent Major.

and...

Get home safe and sound...

:D

well in the american military "squaddies" cant afford computers & internet access...some have to go on food stamps just to survive

fuck you

I don't need to defend myself....or my service record to you....you sanctimonious piece of shit. I've been and I've done......... I see dead people every night.........and will for the rest of my life. Now I've got some little pissant.....giving me some shit? Maybe everything you spew out your ass is a lie. I don't feel the need to prevericate about who I am. Feel free to meet me.....and discuss this further.............I'll be happy to give you all the proof you need about my military background.........I estimate it'll take about 3 seconds.....I am gettin a little old.

Chicken Hawks

On a related topic, I remember reading an article called "Chicken Hawks"; I forget where. No, it wasn't about middle aged men who prey on young boys. It was about prominent hawks in government, who are eager to send other people to fight and possibly die, but who evaded military service themselves. Dan Quayle is a good example. Dick Cheney is another, I believe.

In the UK we know about them very well...

Did Clinton serve in Vietnam??

If memory serve, he ran away from service. During a draft. So, that point is pretty moot. Clinton also sent our military into Bosnia for political capital. Somalia, also. Find a valid point little troll.

Many people have served in special forces units. Most don't talk about specific incidents because of security reasons. But, many do suffer from nightmares. I have a good friend who was a recon Marine. We talk at times, but there is a lot he won't mention. His wife was going through nursing school, and I was showing her pictures of Trauma cases. He saw it, and later that night freaked. He had seen enough death and carnage. Would he go out again? Yes, if he was physically able. He has a metal knee. Just because the most important contribution p_p and redtard have made to society is a computer and internet access, and highest aspiration is to get laid, do not attack the military.

I haven't a clue----------

what this thread is about. Does anyone else?

First it's about people that have seen combat, and then it's about people that haven't, but have ordered others into combat. And I still don't get the point. Is there a point? What is it?

Clueless

You never have gotten the point, Ishmeal, and you never will.

Isn't confusion the norm on peepee's threads?

Ish,

It is just another thread for pisshead and redtard to bash the US by attacking the brave people who have served, or continue to serve, the public. Then they moved to people who order others into battle, but were checked on that mark, and so are trying to find another point.

So, there really isn't a point after all.

Just thought I'd check.

Fake war hero who outfoxed TV network terminated

As a distinguished lieutenantcolonel who had served in Vietnam, been part of the mission to save US hostages in Iran and won the Silver Star for bravery, Joseph Cafasso seemed like the perfect consultant to help Rupert Murdoch's Fox News Channel with its war coverage.

There was only one problem: the military experience of the "colonel" now appears to have been 44 days in a boot camp in New Jersey in 1976, followed by an honourable discharge in the rank of private.

For more than four months, Mr Cafasso was part of the Fox News team covering the war in

Afghanistan. His impressive range of contacts in the military stemmed, he suggested, from his time in the elite Special Forces, the US equivalent of the SAS.

But an investigation by The New York Times indicates that his military career started and ended 25 years ago. Fox News has now parted company with Mr Cafasso, but claims that none of the information he supplied to it has so far turned out to be wrong.

In an email to The New York Times, Mr Cafasso claimed that he was the victim of "political assassination by a group of selfcentred individuals with their own political agendas."

The revelation is an embarrassment to Fox, which has also been trying to combat claims of conservative bias in its coverage of world events.

What Drives You to Be a Fake Hero?
Reviewed by Christian Nelson, VietNow Magazine Editor

In their recent book, Stolen Valor, writers B. G. Burkett and Glenna Whitley take on just about everything that most Americans think they know about Vietnam veterans. Most of us VietNow members think we know the reality of the war and the men who fought it, but do we really?

According to this book, we don’t. Burkett and Whitley relate example after example of fake heroes, guys who never left the U.S. posing as decorated Vietnam veterans, and fakers who are bilking the VA with phony claims of PTSD. Burkett and Whitley let them have it with both barrels, and while they’re at it, they shred what we thought was true about exposure to Agent Orange.

Some of us, of course, have wondered for years about those ragtag, professional Vietnam veterans we see at every kind of veterans affair. The line is that these guys dress in those ratty jungle hats, loaded down with medals, and their long beards, and sleep in dumpsters because they’re still struggling with what happened in Vietnam. But according to Burkett and Whitley, almost every one of these characters they came across was later proven to be as phony as a three dollar bill. Are all the veterans who look like this really fakers? Of course not. But it’s interesting to read about how Burkett exposed some of the many who are.

And it’s not just the general public who can be fooled by these characters. Newspaper and network TV reporters are often willing victims, very often declining to write anything about the usual veteran who made good, in order to get a wild story about a veteran who looks likes he’s still living in Hell. Examples of fake Vietnam veterans include a commander of an American Legion post, a VVA chapter president, actor Brian Dennehy, and various bogus Medal of Honor recipients.

The book is filled with detailed, and sometimes hilarious examples of “highly decorated heroes” exposed as being clerk/typists or even worse - draft-dodgers. And the writers don’t spare anyone. If you’re suffering from PTSD, you might not want to read this book. The writers don’t say that everyone who says he’s a victim of PTSD is a liar, but they don’t seem to have much sympathy or understanding either.

The purpose of the book though, doesn’t seem to be to cause trouble, but to point out that because of so many fakers, the real Vietnam veterans have been short-changed by an unmerciful public. And they could easily be right. Think of all the negative Vietnam veteran stereotypes you know of. Think of all the times you’ve been judged unfairly as a drug addict or possible babykiller, or a ticking time bomb, just because of your veteran status.

You know that in the past, lots of people have judged Vietnam veterans (including you) by these unfair stereotypes. And Burkett and Whitley’s point is that because all these misfit fakers make such interesting material for television, magazines, and newspaper articles, the real Vietnam veterans have been pushed aside to make room for the sensationalized accounts of those who look and act more like “the type.” So, if you’ve always wondered about some of these guys who have ten thousand medals, this is book for you.

If you’ve noticed that all the vets you personally know are upstanding citizens, but all the ones you see on television are bums, check it out. And if you’re a fake hero - well, you should read this book too so you can figure out how to make sure you’re not the next one to be caught.

Tubby,

First of all, if you want to be taken seriously, register. Some people may lie about those things. They are the same type of individual who will lie about being a firefighter, policeman, etc. That does not mean everyone does.
