Why does BDSM attract lunatics?

Is it just me, or does the BDSM community seem to attract the completely unstable? ....

Here is a profile that reminds me why I support the middle letter of the SSC standard that I've been defending in that other thread.

You have to love Collarme

I present: The nation of Ka Azdor!!!!

Oh wow.... I've been on a day schedule tooooo long....

This gal belongs on Art Bell and should be channelling the Ambassador Qwing from Aldebaran or Fomalhuat or the Babylon High Priestess Hoozawhatsis...

OMG, thanks Marquis for the Giggle Of The Night!

Xelebes... *grin* Do not try to out-weird me.... I am a 44 year old Trekker/Sci-Fi fan (I have autographs from every ST: TOS regular cast member now except Leonard Nimoy and Walter Koenig; along with most of the Babylon 5 cast...). I have been playing table-top roleplaying games since Dungeons & Dragons was a digest sized 3 book boxed rules set (1977), and playing Live Action Role Playing games for over a decade.... FIAWOL!*

I'm an old, fat, balding, ugly, tattooed, pierced, evil, twisted, sick, sadistic bastard who's hung like a stud field mouse, and I eat weirder things than you in my breakfast cereal. *LOL*

*Fandom Is A Way Of Life (The SF/gaming community was the closest thing I had to a family until I found the BDSM community)

But can you listen to spitbass and appreciate it for its musical value? I think not.

Holy Bat Crap!

I actually read the whole profile AND her whole journal (ok, speed read/skimmed most of that), PLUS I took a glance that the other people she mentioned AND her forum posts. I also looked at the other site you posted Marquis and read that. Yes, I know, I need other things to do, but insomnia sucks. I found YET another site. I don't know how to make all the fancy stuff, so hopefully just pasting will work.

http://groups.msn.com/AyaHaConfederacy

To say this chick is fucked up in the head is an understatement to say the least. She is 28 years old. She served in 2 branches of the military? Can you do that in a 5 year span? I don't know much about the military, so I honestly don't know. She is a published writer? My 12 year old son could self publish a book if he had the cash. Who claimed she was a whore? She makes good money as an erotic dancer, aka stripper. Dissillusioned? Quite honestly, how can one who lives in a fantasy world think they aren't? Oh wait, of course because they aren't mentally stable enough to know the difference.

A new form of D/s? I could be wrong, but it seems more like she is taking a lot of Gorean things as far as that goes.

Marquis, I would have liked to see you continue to correspond with her and test her theory that "those who try to dominate me will end up in my service". I bet that would have been very fun to watch!

One other thing, exactly how does one legally go about creating their own "micronation"? You are on the land of another country, or in her case, several. Seems to me that it isn't legally possible. Plus they collect taxes?

Florida does have its share of nutcases, for sure. Most of them live on the east coast though, like her!

I remember reading somewhere about this becoming somewhat of a fad with I suppose the filthy rich or people with nothing better to do? I think there is a website somewhere with information on what it takes to start an independent nation. sometimes a nation within a nation. I know some self proclaimed prince set up some sort of nation on some oil rig located off the coast of England. Bunch more around the world - but I have a lot more better things to do like posting on forums lol than to look up these 5 people nations.

Ok, I really should just get some Ambien or something to ward off the insomnia which has me looking at this mind boggling shit all night.

The other web site has all their laws and holidays and is so freaking detailed I think her family would have no trouble going to court and having her found incompetant.

There are even some photo albums on the site! Very strange, but it seems that even though there are different names attached to the pictures, they all seem to be of the same person!

Perhaps this "nation" of hers really IS all in her head and all her little alter personalities are her loyal subjects? :nana:

I've got some insomnia too...

The more I think about this girl and her little world, the more I get confused. So naturally, I just try to keep my focus on the dancing banana and imagine people like her a just trying to play out an elaborate joke for friends who also have a collarme account.

:nana:

Run away! Run away!

There is a benefit to people looking that crazy. It does stamp a "STAY AWAY" sign on their faces for anyone looking.

Unfortunately that's just the sorta look that's going to attract someone that thinks "Hm. Island. Must be money there somewhere. Wonder how long it would take to find it and hide the bodies."

No problem, to the last email I responded.

Haya Sierra,

Firstly I want to thank you for the courtesy of such a well thought out reply. I really didn't expect a reply at all, let alone one so complete.

I will show you the same respect you have afforded me, and be entirely straightforward. You seem to have a brain, and I don't doubt your seriousness. I still have a hard time understanding why you feel the need to live out this elaborate fantasy to be fulfilled. There is nothing wrong with living differently than those around you. I do it myself. I am fairly iconoclastic in my relationships, my beliefs and my priorities. But I still pay my taxes and follow (most) of the laws of this land.

I could call my house a micronation, and I'm sure no one would object, but that doesn't make it so. I don't think there's anything wrong with you doing "something different" and surely many in the past have done so. But generally a nation precedes its flag, not the other way around.

She replied, rather promptly.

Greetings,

Even regardless of all I do, I live by very strict morals, which means I pay Taxes, follow pretty much all of the Laws of the Land and have been known to be a "Goody Two Shoes" as it might be considered. Because we used the set - up of a Micronation to origanally set up this cultural project does not mean that we wish to secceed, or even that we wish recognition from anyone but the people who are involved with us -- these being mostly individuals, families and small groupings of people. We're not looking for the UN, we're not looking for anything silly -- we're merely intent on living by our own ways, respecting others rights to do the same, and being afforded the same respect. There is no focus really on isolation but rather intergration -- in fact most of the more contraversial items of our culture are kept behind closed doors and on private property, those that are likely to be accepted by mainstreamers are shared as all parties are comfortable with it. While D/s is a major part of the culture it is not the only part and aspect of this -- for instance at my night job I give Hanian Cultural Display shows. (As I work as an Exotic dancer at a rather popular tourist Venue this works fairly well). Those who are interested in knowing more, or speaking to me can do so, those who wish to know more of the culture can simply ask me when they meet me there. Those who are not interested I do not borther with it, there are plenty of other conversational topics which I can engage them with.

Some of my co-workers know, others do not. Even my Boss and his wife know parts of my projects and have a fair idea that I live by a different culture, but they judge me by my personality, my work ethic and my manners -- not by the culture I live by. :).

As for preceeding a flag, we're growing slowly, and as I mentioned before Ironing out details as they come along. While I do not expect any instant results, I have seen enough for me to know that this is worthwhile. For instance, though small as we are as community there has been significant support from all over the place, and some of them quite unexpected. I have had positive responses from Dominants, submissives, switches, ministers, bikers, dancers, millionaires, inventors, just about anyone you can imagine. :). Opposition usually only comes in the form of those who are not informed, those who are closedminded, or those who do not know me well enough to see the person behind the picture. :).

Haya Sierra ---
PS: I have to run shopping, be back later.

I replied, no response yet and Collarme shows she hasn't read the message.

Haya Sierra,

I approached you cynically and you have been nothing but courteous, so I must commend you on your level-headedness and your grace. Thank you for responding to my comments and I wish you the best of luck on your journey through life.

Lieutenant Swordsman of the Chameleonic Empire,

Marquis

I am finding myself staring at the dancing banana! :nana:

I can't help but wonder how many of those supportive comments were from people who were just patronizing a lunatic who is too far gone to tell.

Perhaps she is hoping to make you High King of the Hanians Marquis.

She can use the banana to hypnotize you

Ok, I really need some sleep.

I don't know why <twitch> you would say <blink> that BDSM <knee-jerk> attracts <blink-twitch> lunatics. All the people :p I know in <snort!> the lifestyle are <blink> quite normal...

Okay, I admit that in a roleplay setting I used to do this...a female friend of mine would say she met this "amazing" dom guy and I'd say "Okay, let me play a guy friend of yours, don't give me away" and she'd let me travel with them in the game setting. I'd be kind and nice to her, confident and solicitous of her feelings and needs.

Before long this "Dom" guy who had "so much self control" would be a whiny little psycho bitch who just couldn't take any decent competition from a "nice guy" and he'd just fall to frothing pieces in front of her.

She'd say "Oh wow. Look at that. What a complete loser." Which was my point.

It's just too much fun to expose people for what they are.

My full respect to Doms and subs who manage to work it out so they're both perfectly happy. But when my eye starts twitching because of how you're treating a friend of mine...I'll make your eye twitch back if I can.

Man, I wish I had the time to think this kind of thing up. She must not work that much. Either that or she's been using some chemical help to stay awake.

This HayaSierra person.

Yeah...kinda makes you wonder if she's never done a day's work in her life or had to do so much work at some point that her li'l head popped open like a New Year's Eve favor.

The vacuous crazy look makes it hard to tell.

Quite a bit of playin' D&D, I suppose?

Most of it actually refers to the Elric Saga, by Michael Moorcock. The Ruby Throne is the throne of the Emperor of Melnibone', Imryyr is the capital city of the Empire, the DragonLord is the one who controls the army of dragons used to defend Imryyr.... . Protector of the Warrens was the "title" given to me because of the way I tended to be protective of the channel from trolls and posers....

So, no, it really isn't D&D related, but yes, it was online cyber role-playing based.

Don't all computers have sex drives

If not what the hell have I been plugging myself into every night

Edit to add
Marquis I have only just found this from page one
quote:If the pictures hide my desperate need to be mothered, how can you tell it is there?

Is this another oh-so-subtle reference to my "paucity of years"?

I am never, ever subtle you know I just have illusions of mothering you until you submit to my care and charm *cough, cough*
