I do not care what the so called "Founding Fathers" had to say about anything. They were intelligent and well educated for their time, but they were not infallible.Your understanding of the Electoral College shows a complete lack of understanding of why the Founding Fathers designed the system that way. It was designed so that everywhere in the country had a say in the Presidential election not just the major metropolitan areas. The way the country is populated now New York and California would decide every single Presidential election and disenfranchise the rest of the country. So unless you desire for those 2 states to run the country the system in place works just fine.
Also, the United States they governed was very different than it is now.
