Why Do You Write?

My answer seems a bit different from the others. I write to tell a story. I love to tell stories. Erotic, jokes, etc. Written or spoken. I simply love to tell stories. If I didn't have a place to publish and share them, I don't think I would write them down. Certainly they exist in my head, but they're there whether I write them down or not. And yes, the feedback means a great deal to me. If I didn't believe that people were enjoying my stories, I'd probably stop writing them.

Since this thread started, I've got myself a new muse and already half way through my new story.

Thanks Imp and lou.

It'll be posted on here and JE as soon as JE IS BACK UP AND RUNNING... hint, hint EL lol

I write to get laid. I have only ever wrote to get laid (with the exception of articles or abstracts submitted to conferences in my field). I have a good record with it.

And I can fully understand why!

(stop it doormouse you'remaking me blush. Mits still in bed..you'll have to wait :p)

I write because I like spinning a tale and working the language and I love that crazy feeling when things start pouring out of me faster than I can type or scribble...

I share my writing because I love the ego boost (shallow perhaps but true) and because I really love when it actually affects someone that I like. If I lost contact with all of you but the few who know my real name I would still share just for that limited audience and my RL audience.

I would still write no matter what, as long as I have pen and paper or keyboard.

But I have developed a hunger for those reactions of others. Favorite memories: ...being told I had made someone excuse herself and go to the restroom to masturbate while at work (instant hard-on when I was told that; almost like grade school)....Sheath pushing her man away from the keyboard to answer a post I made because she recognized my name as the author of one of her favorites...Imp putting one of my poems in her "favorites" and me not knowing it until I went to her member page looking for something...Alex De Kok complimenting me after he was already one of my favorite authors...A pm from Colly after my fencing story went up...)

So what others think is important, even if it is not necessary...

Because I love it.

I never really understood those authors who talk about how much they hate writing (but maybe they love 'having written') Yeah, there are days when you're working on something and you hate it- and you hate writing by extension. There are times were it's frustrating. But I enjoy it. I love doing it, and I love that I can. I also enjoy telling a story. Mainly I enjoy making up a story and telling it. So I guess I write to tell a story. I write because I have ideas. And I think some of them are good. And what a waste to just leave them up in my head. I'll never have enough time to read every book I want to write or tell every story I have to tell. And to be honest- both of those thoughts bug the hell out of me.:) But I comfort myself in the belief that the afterlife is an endless library with everyboook ever written and an eternity to read them all.:D

It wouldn't be heaven w/ out books. [and food]

The World?

A black and white coloring book.

Writing?

That BIG box of crayons.

ElSol?

Still a kid where it matters.

The Rules?

"I'm not coloring outside the lines; I'm coloring OVER the lines, you silly little twat! And as a matter of fact, people can too be purple. It's not my fault who ever made the book didn't give the pretty lady wings either; but don't worry when I grow up to be God, everyone will have them."

Sincerely,
ElSol
