I am really curious what motivates everyone to write Erotica

For me I write because I have a very vivid imagination (ADHD) and writing it down really helps me to proces all those fantasies.
I just started writing Erotica, but I have written (or at least started) some fantasy stories before for that same reason.
Doesn't mean I don't want to improve or enjoy other people liking my stories though. But mostly seeing my fantasies written out just gives me enjoyment.

So why does everyone write?
To let others enjoy your stories?
To get published?
To share your own experiences?
Or like me, to get your fantasies in writing?
Do you write what you want or write what others will enjoy?

For me, I have found several writers and stories that I liked a lot, but so much of the rest didn't resonate with me. Writing allows me to really enjoy fantasies in a tangible way.

Getting square-pegged in my round hole too often is why I've been self-employed for most of my career. And my bosses never even bothered with the lube.

Does using the word "lorry" identify you as British? Or is that just used everywhere in the English speaking world except the U.S. I think you used it in one of the humor/jokes forums.

UK only, I reckon.

We have trucks or semis here in Oz, never lorries. We do have blokes. Your Aussie bloke is a bit of a cliche, though, especially if his name is Bruce. Although that's probably fading away these days.

Bloke is kind of a English, Irish, and Auzzie thing from what Mum says. Boris Kaloff's (William Henry Pratt) previous profession is listed as a lori driver in his IMDb profile.

I have many reasons for writing:

• Sometimes a random fantasy popped up that I feel is worth writing down and elaborating on.
• Sometimes I feel it is just worth making sure I will remember a particular fantasy many years from when it occurred. Those writings tend to be short and often remain unfinished.
• Sometimes I just want to get something that (nearly) happened in my real life out of my head by committing it to paper – or rather to electrons. Those stories get a lot of attention, often being revised over several months and in one case even years.
• Sometimes, I start reading stuff out of boredom and then I suddenly go like “That’s no good and it leaves me just as bored as before. However, I have a better idea on how to proceed with it. Let me get creative and less bored…” Stories in this category usually end up being no good, as they often lack a deeper connection to my inner world and personal history, but at least they’ll have kept me busy. Many of them get deleted later on.

Most of the time, I want to explore things that I’d like to experience, but know I never will, which sort of implies that I'm my own primary audience – even if/when the material does get published somewhere. However, recently, as I’m aging, I’ve been putting more focus on documenting certain memories. There’s a special someone who I’d like to be able to read those once I’ll be gone.
