I just dont get the big deal about having nice shoes or what constitutes as nice shoes. Obviously girls like big shoes lol, but I just dont get the big deal about why women care about the way they look

Meaning, you don't care at all about the way you look?

Sheesh, people love to stereotype. I hate shoe shopping (though when I do have to go, it does make me happy when I find a pair that fits and is comfy... but I bet that rings true for pretty much everyone).

We only care about how we look until we land a husband. Then we don't even wear shoes. Or makeup. Hell, I haven't had a shower in weeks. If you look closely, you can see the stink lines coming off my av.

I buy shoes for function, not looks. When I buy shoes, that is.

sorry, I was really tired when I started the thread, what I MEANT to ask was why women are so interested in shoes that men wear, like why women care so much about the kinds of shoes a guy wears. By the way I love being misquoted, I said that I dont understand why women care about the way they look IN TERMS of Shoes, just shoes.

My question is...Why is EVERYTHING CUTE! Oh my god, I sick of that fucking word. Went to a store with a friend "oh these are cute, these are cute, oh wow, those are so cute."

I was like "no they are ugly" and she threw a fit.

No, you weren't being misquoted. You said, "I just dont get the big deal about why women care about the way they look." Perhaps you meant to refer only to shoes, but you obviously neglected to finish that thought. Other people interpreted your post based on what you actually said, not what you meant to say.

you MADE her buy shoes?!?!? my, but someone's a controlling spouse. how much of what she wears do you dictate? ;)

Im a guy and I have a ton of shoes. All serve their purpose.
Dress shoes
Climbing shoes
Backpacking boots
Winter Boots
Day hikers
Mountaineering Boots
Running shoes
Casual Shoes
Sandles

Having 3 pairs of dress shoes would be a waste of money. But I actually use all of mine. Plus shoes i find make up alot of how you look when your dressed. Wear jeans and a nice shirt and runners and you look alright, throw on some nice dressy shoes and its much better.

shoes are important!

Your feet are where you touch the planet, yes I'm a hippy! Shoes are very important to me, I only wear trainers at the gym, have rediscovered high heels after years of wearing docs, and I think that even more than what women wear, guys shoes speak volumes about the kind of person they are. Obviously footwear isn't important to some, but there's always hope for them!

Whatever happened to the basic sneaker colors? My wife and I went out sneaker shopping last night, and although the store probably had 50 to 60 styles to pick from, they were all multicolored with either flourecent colors, lightning bolts, clearplastic, or something that I'm just not going to wear. I ended up buying a pair of outdoor hiking type sneakers because most of the others looked like I was ready for blastoff.

*OK, sorry for the slight hijack*
I've wondered this as well. I'm picky about the colors of my running/training shoes, and I hate loud colors. The running shoes that I have at the moment, which I really need to replace, aren't what I'd like to have. They're white with blue. Not particularly loud, but not my preference, either. When I bought them, they were the least offensive-looking.

And what about the price? Sheesh.

My husband tends to be picky about/with his shoes, particularly his dress shoes. I think it's a cop thing.

Bi, I hate loud colors, too. I'm also not a fan of the "tradiation" white or black when it comes to sneakers. I've recently developed a love for brown and tan ... here are links for my two favorite pairs of sneakers:

Rocket Dog - Astroid (less than $30 at DSW shoe warehouse)
New Balance ... I can't find the exact pair, but I've always been happy with NB's selection of styles and colors.

I think one of the reasons that women like shoes so much is that our feet do not fluctuate as much in size as the rest of our bodies do. We all probably have clothes in our closets that only fit really well during certain days of the month, "fat" clothes, etc. The dressing room mirror may reflect a bigger than life-sized picture of a fat white slug just crawling out from under a rock, but that little slanted mirror in the shoe store shows us a sexy snapshot of ourselves.

I don't do wild colors either. I've bought New Balance for years now...they always seem to be sensible styles, colors, and they're one of the only brands of athletic shoes my feet love. Plus, they seem to last forever, and I can usually find them on sale for around $40. :D

I swear you're my long-lost twin living at the opposite end of the country, 'cept your boobs are far cuter.

I love to wear New Balance. They are so comfortable and lightweight. I have to agree on the colors for them being normal and all that. It's like they are actually made for an adult to wear instead of a teeny bopper wannabe.
