I really don't understand the motivation. When I was in college I wanted one for the comfort aspect, but that's all I ever considered. It wasn't because I had a particular image in mind - I just thought it would lend to easy access.

Looking back, I'm glad I didn't get one. I can't stand to wear billowing fabric (a.k.a. mumus) for very long periods of time. .

What was the reason you got your mumu? Is it truly an image you want to project for the remainder of your life? Why did you choose to be mumuified? Do you think that mumu will still be as important to you 20 years from now? Was your mumu bought just for fun or was there some other reason?

I honestly want to understand.

MOOMOO is a cow thingy, girly says.

I know WH's going to correct me on this but....

I heard muumuus (sp?) were invented by missionaries sent to Hawaii. So that the natives would have something to cover their naked bodies after being converted…
Weird Harold? Is this right? Or was I being gullible again?

My mom's a muumuu wearer. *sigh* I've tried to break her of the habit, but she's not having any of it. It's solely about comfort to her. She doesn't even care if the neighbors see her in it! ACK!

I'm so glad I'm a pj kinda gal.

I don't wear mumus but I really like loose, billowing tops. I like they way they lay and the way they cling. I like that there is room for someone to put their hands under and touch flesh...

Well, I don't have a mumu, but I have two jellabas and a kimono.

I am now wondering if Perky's mumus have ruffles.

Siren, you make me titter.

I own a muumuu. Or at least I used to. It was brown and orange with pink flowers. I wore it to a hippie dance a few years ago, and then to a Halloween party once. Don't know where it is now...

I wear the flannel equivilent of a mumu. I buy them in size 4XT... I love them!

to cover up with when someone knocks on the door? Can't be any uglier than my sweat pants and hubbies T. I don't have a mumu but i'm all about comfort when i'm hanging around the house.

tit·ter Pronunciation Key (ttr)
intr.v. tit·tered, tit·ter·ing, tit·ters
To laugh in a restrained, nervous way; giggle

Why do people get mumus?

Quite simply, it's due to a failure to get properly vaccinated. Had reponsible parents gotten their children vaccinated for mumus we wouldn't have this epidemic ravaging society.

As far as I know, that's the correct history of MuuMuu's. The name is Hawaiian/polenysian for the simple garment the missionaries came up with.

The design isn't original to the missionaries though -- elsewhere it's called a kaftan or something in the local language.

Oddly enough, it was promoted as "Native hawaiian dress" when it became popular among hippies inthe 60's.

I got it right? Hey! WH says I got it right!

I knew it was too good to be true.

If Harold says it, it must be correct.
