yeah...wearing a wife-beater and a sock on your arm doesn't make you punk.

I don't know, but it sets my teeth on edge. From her webpage http://www.avril-lavigne.com/ :

"Now that her album is done, Avril can't wait to get out and play. She jokes, pointing out that touring with her own sk8er punk band of rocker boys probably won't be all that different from her childhood, "I was always a tomboy and I guess I still am. I played hockey during the fall /winter and baseball in the summer. I loved playing with the boys."

"sk8r"? "rocker boys"? I hate it when 50-year-old record execs write copy.

A better question: why is it no one will admit that she's a second-generation warmed-over Alanis Morrissette?

it's just really bad music and they're trying to make it hard or edgy or something...it's just annoying. i can't wait for this wave of teeny-girl pop rock to end. you want girl bands worth listening to? then mtv should play The Donnas, Betty Blowtorch, Bif Naked, PJ Harvey. etc.

No kidding. She's soo interchangeable with that piano girl and that Michelle Branch girl...only look! She wears Dickies pants! What a rebel! I don't think "harder edged" women coming back in vogue any time soon, though. I think this formulated girl pop thing is just getting started.

i can't tell any of them apart...i work at a record store and it's like a little girl will come in looking for a song and i'll just read off a list of the current pop sensations and one will be the right one. even the covers of the CDs all look the same.

That's who they're selling to - 12-17 year olds. No matter how stupid it looks to us, so long as that group buys it, the A&R guys can pay the mortgage on their second homes.

this is how i felt a few years ago when all those number bands came out at the same time...matchbox 20, 3rd eye blind...etc. they all just sounded the same to me.

My favourite thing about her is the video.

Nothing says Punk Ideals quite like hassliong minimum wage earners at your local mall.

What suburban "rebel" garbage.
