You've been very generous yourself here. Happy trails.BlackShanglan said:Ah, thank goodness. There's a shred of rationality left on the thread.
I think I'll take the opportunity to step out of one of those. Watching where this thread has gone in the last couple of days, I realize that I've been cavalier and pettily mean in my posts and that I've done little to encourage sincere debate or generosity of spirit. I'm ashamed of my actions, and I do apologize for them. It was not right to continue as a sport and mockery what was begun in earnest and with some hope of good coming of it, and I am sorry for that. My thanks to those who have generously put up with me.

I saw you'd begun tossing roses and thought I'd save you the step.
Now you can move straight on to rainbows and baby ducklings.

It's the average. Some people exceed it. The ones who are falling for all my bait are the examples.flirty_but_nice said:We cannot help ourselves.

Well, things pretty much went by the boards when people started saying in here "you bring race issues into every single thread = hyperbole."BlackShanglan said:Ah, thank goodness. There's a shred of rationality left on the thread.

Here's a question. Why would a writer choose to use figurative language like hyperbole in a way which goes over people's heads?LovingTongue said:Well, things pretty much went by the boards when people started saying in here "you bring race issues into every single thread = hyperbole."
"every thread" is hyperbole.
"every single thread" is not.
It's called an reinforced absolute statement.
But I've gone way over people's heads with enough stuff already. And you have gone far to deny logic and reason in order to be "against" me. That is what's weighing on you - far more than your lack of civility.

I could easily communicate on your level if I had an etch-a-sketch.
The one thing you didn't flunk was how to make up insane golf club gunmen stories.Ham Murabi said:You're not fooling anyone here. We all know you flunked etch-a-sketch.

Let's get this straight right now, you threat mongering coward.Ulaven_Demorte said:Once again shoving words into my mouth. Reading comprehension is not your friend.
I never said that I shot at anyone, but that I was routinely required to point a loaded weapon at people. I was fully trained and completely willing to open fire if the need arose. It's kind of a sticking point in the military that you actually be willing and able to shoot someone should they present themselves as a threat.
You would know this had you ever served yourself.
It wasn't a threat directed toward you or anyone else, merely a statement of fact. There was no posturing, no fantasizing. The proposition of pointing a loaded weapon at someone or using it to kill them holds no mytique for me. Although I never had to pull the trigger on anyone I've been in the position that it was a definite possibility on more than one occasion. I know that I am more than capable of using deadly force should the need arise. I can see though, how the thought of that is fantasy worthy for someone who has never been in that position in reality.
I don't make threats. A threat implies an inability or unwillingness to carry out an action. I make promises. I've promised you, on more than one occasion, that should you follow the path you claim to have taken before and actually presented yourself as a real threat rather than a posturing loudmouth hidden safely and anonymously behind his monitor that it would not end well for you. I would have no qualms about putting a couple of 9mm slugs into that twisted little brain of yours should you make it necessary. Again, not a threat, more of a warning.
If you're looking for true posturing you need only look to your own "curbstomping" fantasies and threats of virtual violence. Pick a thread, any thread.
You're projecting again.
Ah and "Gunface" as you refer to him is a character named Vincent from "Cowboy Bebop".
