To answer the OP: Conservatives are obsessed with race because they are obsessed with the Good Old Days -- and racism was practically the unchallenged consensus wisdom in our society at all times before 1960. The racial caste hierarchy was part of America at its peak of power and prosperity and cultural solidarity.

yup the conservatives want usa to go backwards like its the 1600s to 1960s where most americans would get married at young ages and have like 3 to 10 kids
