Hello fellow authors. Forgive me for my clumsiness with trying to get a few stories published in the "Illustrated" section.

I have submitted two stories with jpegs embedded and in .doc format. They have sat in "pending" status for several weeks.

I have tried to submit the in .rtf format but the file sizes are way too big.

Any suggestions? I need your help.

Thanks in advance,

Illustrated stories take longer to post. I think that's the case here. If the status is pending, I think sooner or later you'll hear about them. You could always PM Laurel and ask. Please PM her, do not email.

Based on several similar discussions regarding Ilustrated stories, If I were going to submit one, I would do the following:

1: attach the required images to a thread here in the forums.

2: Save the story text in text format with HTML coding for bold and Italics, and the URL of the attachments in the places where the illustrations are to be inserted. NOTE, do NOT put the HTML to hotlink the attachments, just the URL where they can be found.

3: Submit the text via C&P into the submission form.

4: Put the URL(s) of the image(s) in the comment field of the submission form with references towhere they are in the story.

5: wait patiently for approval and posting.

Word (or .rtf) files with embedded images take much longer to post because extracting the images and placing them on Lit's servers where the story page can access them is a lot more work than just copying images from the attachment database on one Lit server to the appropriate folder on another server.

Don't forget that Lit requires the imagery for illustrated stories to be the author's original work, or to have explicit, written, permission of the imagery's copyright holder to be included in the story -- you can't just grab any old images off of the internet and write a story around them.

Thanks for the advice

Hey, this is great advice...I'll first PM Laurel and ask her what she wants me to do...

Thanks again.
